Downloading applications, etc?

Will it be possible with this phone to download applications, screensavers, etc. to a computer and then transfer to the phone via USB cable?

I know you could do this via the wireless web, but I would rather not pay a monthly fee for that service. I'd rather d/l for free to the computer and transfer if possible.

Also, is there an additional monthly fee to use the camera, video? I would assume there would be a fee to send it wirelessly via the phone, but couldn't one upload to a computer and then send out through regular mail?

Finally, what about using the phone with another bluetooth enabled device (such as a camcorder)? Is there an additional fee to use the phone to connect to a local ISP, or would only the regular calling minute...

6230 or E398?

I require some of your wisdom. I can currently get a E398 free or get a Nokia 6230 for about $170. Any suggestions?

Bluetooth implementation & Acura TL

I would leave to hear people's opinions on the bluetooh implementation for the Nokia 6230. I'm a big Nokia fan, but I've heard that they have had some problems with bluetooth implementation on some (most?) of their phones.

I am considering buying this phone to use the bluetooth features on my Acura TL.

Any updates coming that may resolve some bugs? Thanks.

Choosing between 6230 and 7610

I've had my eyes set on the 6230 from Cingular, but it seems by the time it comes out the 7610 will not be far behind.

The major differences of consequence to me are:
The 7610 has Series 60, a megapixel camera and a bigger screen. The 6230 is a little smaller and lighter, has FM radio, EDGE and a normal keypad.

Is the lack of EDGE in the 7610 that big a deal? And is Series 60 that much of an improvement? Any thoughts on what could tip the scale in either direction would be greatly appreciated.

Also has anyone heard about the 6230i? Here's a story from Mobile-review:

voice dialing/messenging question

for those of you with the phone already,

How is voice dialing with the phone? Is it voice-independent dialing and does it also have voice digit dialing?

and is it possible to chat on AIM/MSN with this phone? It only mentions 2-way text messenging on the info page...

thanks.

Sunday ad Insert Houston Chronicle

Cingular included a 4 color slick, 3 page gatefold advert in the Houston Chronicle this weekend which showcased the NOKIA 6230.

"Call or stop by for availability."

"SAVE $150 after $50 mail-in rebate with 2 year SA"

estimate: $249 purchase, $100 off for SA, $50 mail-in rebate - akin to SE T637 pricing

of note: the NOKIA N-Gage QD was shown at $99 with $50 MIR and 2 yr. SA

also of note: the website has not yet been updated to include the NOKIA 6230, but more interestingly, the MOTO V600 is now absent.

Will it work with Sprint?

Will the Nokia 6230 work with Sprint PCS? That's where I have my current contract w/ & I'd like to get this phone...I was talking with a sales rep at AT&T who also was a fan of this phone & he said that if I got it from an independent distributor & just made sure it was "unlocked" that I would be able to use this phone w/ sprint..any truth to this?

also, all these things about 850 or 900 & different numbers, I'm totally confused!

I'm in the US so what would I be looking for here?

Thanks!

6230 vs 6620

I've been waiting for the 6620, but most of the features I wanted are also on the 6230. Is there any reason I should or shouldn't get the 6230? Should I keep waiting for the 6620?

Nokia 6230B will be the US version (GSM 850) for this phone

Some other minor changes and comparisons to the NON-B Euro version can be seen via the following link.

Hi All! Have any of you heard about the warranty problem?

Hi everyone! 🙂

I was really interested in buying the nokia 6230 off of ebay because it's not available in the states yet...at least not where i'm looking... but as i was researching the qualities of the phone, it seemed very good...until i ran into an article done by mobile city. There seems to be an overheating problem of some sort here's the link... 😢

if anybody else has had this problem please let me know...i don't want to be spending close to $400 on a phone that may have serious software problems. Thanks! 😁

nokia 6230 problem,,anybody can help please??

hi to all,,
please i newly bought 6230,the problem is that the music player only reads music files when they are on the phone memory(8.5 mb)why cant it read from memory card where i stored my music,
problem 2:when i copy mp3 from pc it copies it 1st to phone memory, which limits it up to 8.5 mb,why not to copy directly to memory card without the need to turn off the mobile, open it, and use a memory card reader, finally, when using phone browser to browse the phone gallery,it displayes the message"operation could'nt be completed".

need help...do i hav to format the fone?

yesterday, i was mucking about with my wallpapers...kept changing the contrast, and suddenly all the pictures returned back to before i changed any contrast of the pictures.

From then, i havnt been able to set contrast of the picture, i pressed set contrast, ok, then say like i exit the file, then when i go back to it, its just the same picture as the one before i set contrast.
Do i have to format the phone, to get it working again?
...and what is the quickest and cheapest way to unlock 6230?
thanx

I PLAN TO BUY N6230

I am planing to buy a N6230. But I have some questions to know!

1) Does the phone have a real-one player? Can I watch whatever movies I transfer on its MMC? (Of course converting them to .3gp format)

2) Can I listen MP3's on phones handsfree speaker without plugging any headphones?

3) If I buy a 256 mb MMC , can I record longer movies?(Longer than 4 min)

4) Is there any zoom function on its camera?
