CDM9900 delay...

I E-Mailed Audiovox today to see if there was
any update on the release of the CDM-9900 for Verizon since
the CDM-9950 (VM4050) was released today
on Sprint.
This is what Audiovox said:

"Unfortunately the CDM9900 is still in the approval stage and should be available by the end of the 2nd quarter. We apologize for the inconvenience".

So now it's pushed back from Q1 (as was said in
a E-Mail from them in Dec) to Q2.

what i know

ok, i work at a local verizon dealership and i am very current on the release dates of phones (lg4500 comes out thursday) but mostly i watch audiovox, they make great phones. i love my 9500 and its went through more than its share of truble (ran it over once even). however i have yet to see any legit paper work on the release of the 9900 as i usually see about a month before the actual release. but what i can tell u is that it was FCC approved in august of last yr. they may be wanting to catch the rush following CES for first quarter releases. so based on that, my guess would be on march, prolly earlier march. but one thing cot my eye tho, if u look at the pic of the front of the phone, there is a date- 5-13.... but i cant make out if i...

not febuary

i am very close to a verizon employee, and i dont think it will be any time soon . my proof is that the lg4500 was fcc approved in march of 2003, the trainers at my freinds job have had the phone since july or august and its still not out yet, well the trainers dont even have this phone yet. i hope it comes out sooner b/c my 9500 is on its way out and it has perfomed perfectly after going swiming 3 times and dropped countless others. to be honest im scared to buy any other phone

Verizon has not even tested the phone

Just got off the phone with AUDIOVOX they said all we can tell you is that the phone has not even been sent to VERIZON for testing yet.

The phone is though but i forgot for which provider. Verizon is soooooooooo slow man.

waiting for the V810 or for the Audovox8900 to sort its problems

Audiovox says Q1 2004

I E-Mailed Audiovox about this phone three
weeks ago, and this is what they said back:

"There is no release date set for the CDM-9900 at the moment. We expect to see it in stores some time in the first quarter of 2004, but we can not be more specific at this time."

So I hope that means by March/April.

What I meant

I wasnt comparing the phone to the SPRINT SANYO....I only compared them in SIZE because the sanyo is basically the same phone with PTT feature and its still smaller.

But compared to the 8900. Ill take the 8900 Its smaller with same features.except the video and nice outer screen.

Ive seen the video by the way and there is no point!!!

Id take the V810 personally but speakerphone is a HUGE feature to me.

Ooooooooooh!

This looks like a nice phone. I have been fond of Audiovox's phones for a while now, they remind me a lot J-phone and DoCoMo models. How I miss my DoCoMo.

9500 VS 8900 VS 9900 also (Panasonic gd/gu87)

some info on how the size relates to the large 9500 and the smaller 8900

Although the 9900 is somewhat large.. i think the way the phone is made.. with more curves.. will help it out.

I recently used a friends Panasonic GU/GD 87 and it is a somewhat large phone as well... but i did not have a problem with its size at all.
Its dimensions are...

GD/GU87
-------
3.84" x 1.93" x 0.91"
98mm x 49mm x 23mm

/////////

9500
----
3.80" x 1.90" x .90"
97mm x 48mm x 23mm

/////////

8900
----
3.41" x 1.77" x .75"
87mm x 45mm x 19mm

/////////

9900
----
3.66" x 1.89" x .95"
93mm x 48mm x 24mm

THIS IS A PHONE WE ALL WANT................

WOW, THIS PHONE LOOKS LIKE IT HAS EVERYTHING IN A PHONE THAT I WANT....SINCE IT WAS APPROVED BY FCC IN AUGUST, MAYBE IT WILL ACTUALLY COME OUT IN THE FIRST QUARTER LIKE THE PLANNED AVAILABILITY SAYS....FINALLY VERIZON IS GETTING INTO THE GAME, THAT IS, OF COURSE, IF WE ACTUALLY SEE THIS PHONE SOMETIME SOON....
