Querie - NYC, rural, UK & Caribbean

I'm thinking of purchasing this phone and wonder if anyone has used it in NYC, rural (farm) country, the UK and the Caribbean. Specifically, ease of use, dropped or missed calls, sound quality, set-up etc. I wish it had analog, yes it's that rural, there's no GSM at home.

Updates please

Many reviews, from my angle mostly bad. For those that have the phone and operated it globally, was it a worthwhile investment? I have customers and employees that need to have access, and I'm hoping this phone is dependable and clear with good coverage. I would be with Verizon. Any updates are appreciated.

Its Going Back - II

😡

I'm very disappointed in this phone. I'll be writing a more thorough review soon. However, the main problem is only about 50% of the incoming calls actually go through. The calls that don't go to VM. This is with the signal indicater at full strength in known location for a good signal. The 2nd issue is outgoing calls. I'm told they are often choppy with a lot of word loss (the other end might get every 2nd word).

I have other issues with Samsung that I only learned about by having one for a few days. I'll put those in my review. On a positive note, it worked well on the GSM side.

Verizon "get it NOW" Not Working on SCH-A790

The unit works well as a phone. Test messaging works too. First chance to use it in Europe next week.

One bad piece of news...I've been working with Verizon TechSupport for a week and am still unable to use the "get it NOW" service.

It is everything that I hoped it would be.....

No disappointments here. I just ordered the phone last Thursday and had it by Monday.

It is a solid/hefty phone--not that cheap plastic crap that Verizon has been pushing lately. The picture quality is excellent (though nothing I'd print out and put in a frame)--just better than any of my friend's phone.

My last phone was the Motorola V60, so this is a step up in features for me. I'm not missing Bluetooth or any of the other features that everyone else is complaining about.

Also, I got a great price--about $150.00. If I paid the nearly $400.00 that is listed, I probably wouldn't be so thrilled--actually I wouldn't have bought the phone.

As it is, I couldn't be happier...

Please give me no. to call to get this phone

😲 I spent all day yesterday trying to get this phone. I am a consumer (not a b2b user), however I have the color blackberry and samsung i700 and never had trouble getting those phones. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get this phone from VZW, can someone please tell me how or give me a direct number to the department selling this phone?!?!?!?!

It's going back

I ran this phone thru the paces this weekend, and it's going back to VZ today.

I live in a small town north of LA and even though signal strength looks good, I get about 40% dropped calls. Also, when I place a call, it only goes thru about 50% of the time. My wife is also on VZ with her LG VX4400 and she pulls in much better performance at any given location.

Maybe this reception issue will get worked out with updates in the future, but for now, it's not ready for prime time---in my area anyway.

Got mine today

😁 Got my 790 today. I dont know what your talking about CustServ guy....the phone is great....real nice looking...much better then the cookie cutter silver flip phones....menus, camera, flash, phone book, everything is awesome. Comes with a leather poach and headphones that let you recieve and hang up a call w/o touching the phone. Outside screen, inside screen....I have absolutely no complaints.

Thanks to all the VZ guys (you know who you are) that made this possible.

Only lacking things are speakerphone and bluetooth...why cant they just put everything in?

Cant wait to go test it in the International Market...

Quick question for anyone who can answer: I have International Service through rent-a-phone....am stuck in the $10/...

Any news about the June 7th Launch?

Guys,

Any inside news about the June 7th Launch? Is it really going to be available. It seems like most people in the know are sounding off on this. Should I really give up on the A790 after having waited for almost 6 months?

Thanks,
pvravi

Why the urgent need for this phone?

I noticed that there's a lot of people on this forum that seem to need an international phone ASAP, but are dead set on waiting for this model? I realize the practical data advantages of CDMA and all but just so you guys know, international GSM phones have been out for a long time now and cost much less. I've had a Moto V600 for 2 months now and am more than satisfied with it's performance and coverage. It works on every frequency used in the world and is unlocked. Plus video, bluetooth, speakerphone, 65K color screen, 7 hour talk time which I actually get, cool multicolor LED indicator, and it only cost me $200. In my area I have access to both Cingular 1900 MHz and ATTWS 800/850 MHz too so i'm experiencing better coverage than I did w...

A790 Workable On Sprint Network?

Quick question ...

Would an 'unlocked' version of the SCH-A790 work on the Sprint CDMA network?

Once this phone is more widely available, how could one go about making this happen if it is possible?

Also, whether or not I have this on Sprint or Verizon's network, how does one use it on a GSM network? For instance, could I use this phone on AWS in the USA if I wanted to?

Regards,

/e
