Ok, so seriously now...

So, I've seen posted several places that SE plans a Jan. '04 release in the US. Well, it's the end of Jan. '04 and no sign of a release here. Obviously it's not in Jan. Any ideas on what the actual time frame might be and what the hold up is? If it's going to be too much longer, I'll just import one. Darned tax refund is burning a hole in my pocket!

P900 Carrier Compatibility

I am fairly new to the GSM world, and have a few questions. If I get an "unlocked" version of this phone, and presently have Cingular GSM service, what would I need to do, to scrap my current phone and get this one activated? Would I have to take it to Cingular to get it programmed or just plug in the SIM card from my existing phone? Also I've noticed this one operates on 900/1800/1900 MHz as opposed to most Cingular phones (850/1800/1900). Thanks for your insight,

Mohammad Raqib

P900 for Sprint? when??

Hey all new to the group.

I have the Treo 600. It's not bad. But not great. I am with sprint in Los Angeles, and they have good coverage and pricing, (IMHO), BUT... I really want to get the P900 and was wondering if there is any info on when it might work on the sprint network.

Does anybody have any intel on if and when the P900 would be made to work on sprints network?

Thanks in advance,

Chad5

PS I am still able to get a refund on my Sprint Treo and even cancel my service, but I rather stay and get the P900 if possible.

Bluetooth - not good

This is an amazing phone, but I have to return it for the bluetooth is NOT fully functional. I have bluetooth in my car and want to use the phone in the car "hands free." (Lexus LS 430) My car will not recognize this phone.

Sony technical support tells me the phone is not capable of working with bluetooth in a car. Obviously, I do not understand bluetooth well enough, but this phone goes back!

P900 Interactive Review

Sony Ericsson sent me a P900 to review. 😁 (I told them I don't do individual phone reviews, but they sent it anyway.) Since I don't have time to do a full, in-depth review, I thought I'd try something different - an "interactive review". My initial impressions are below, but they're not intended to be a full review.

The idea is basically to make this a Q&A thing - you ask questions, and I'll answer them as best I can using the P900 I have. Before you ask a question, please read the rest of this post, and check if someone else has already asked the same question.

First Impressions

The first thing that struck me about the P900 out of the box is the design. I really like how this thing looks! Of course I'd seen the photo...

My local AT&T wireless store told me just now that they've discontinued the P800 and that the P900 will be its replacement. They believe it will be available in Januaryt!

Memory Sick DUO PRO compatibilty

I just bought one of these .. the 256MB San Disk type, brand new. But when I put it in... the phone does not recognize it as an external media. Now the "PRO" is suuposed to have a higher data transfer speed than the regular memory stick ... but my question is, is it compatible with the P900. Thanks a lot.

Charging Problem~

I got my P900 almost a week ago. I charged it 3 times. The first time I charged it about 12 hours. This charge last me about 1 days or so because I played with it a lot. Then the second charge was done on the stand with the USB plugged in. It was kinda wired but overall, ok. It was fully charged. Then last night, I charged it again on the stand, it just didnt charge up full and stopped at 2/3. Reconnected twice and still doing the same thing. I took it off of the stand and connect directly to the charger. It was fine then. Has any of you experienced this?

P900 vs. P800; Outlook

Outlook:
Do you use outlook? If so, have you had an opportunity to try syncing the address book? Or has anyone tried to sync the P800 since I assume the Symbian software is the same/similar? What I really want to do is be able to store pictures with contact information and have that sync. Many phones with cameras can do this, and outlook can do this in the notes field, but I have yet to see someone make this work with either PalmOS or Symbian and Outlook. I guess I will deal with the picture not syncing with outlook as long as it backs up the linked picture on the computer as it is sync'ing with outlook.

P900 vs. P800:
I did not notice a comparison between the phones on Sony Erricson's website and am having trouble understandin...
