Treo600 from the UK

Would anyone know if I can purchase the Treo600 from the UK and use it with a new T-Mobile account? It's selling for much cheaper there and would like to avoid paying $500 now vs. waiting a year or the price to drop.

Feb 2nd - Treo 600 Availability for standard customers!!!

I am in a hurry to buy the 600, so I asked T-Mobile recently and just found out that the Treo 600 will be available for purchase from Handspring on February 2nd. Here is the reply that I received:

[Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. The Handspring Treo 600 was recently released on 01/12/2004. Currently, the Treo 600 is only available to business customers through T-Mobile Direct Sales Channels. Standard consumers will have the option of purchasing the handset at www.Handspring.com as of 2/2/04. At this time, this device is not available through our Handset Upgrade program, so we will be unable to quote any prices, nor give out any information regarding its availability. If you have any other comments, questions or concern...

I am interested in purchasing a Handspring Treo 600 which I hoped to use in an area of Maine which receives coverage from several carriers. None, however seem to "support" the Treo 600.

My question is, What specific attributes of this telephone would not be supported? Isn't this device simply a standard Palm OS PDA (which should require no wireless support) integrated with a conventional triband mobile phone (which I thought would be supported by just about any carrier?).

I intuit that some features (such as wireless Internet access, photo transmission, etc), might not operate, but wouldn't the PDA and conventional telephone features work with...

Treo 600 and EDGE

Any idea if the Treo 600 will be software-upgradeable to EDGE at some point, similar to how the Treo 180/270 models were sent out with no GPRS then upgraded later?
