Verizon+Treo 600/610

After many calls to tech support, sales, local offices - all I've heard it's going to happen - but no committment re: timing.

It's a great phone and Verizon is just too slow to market. Friends have been using it for over 6 months at Sprint.

If anyone can penetrate the big V "cone of silence" let us know.

Verizon Rep Confirms Late June Treo Release

I know we've heard this from others and my statement has no more proof than them, but my Verizon corporate account rep told me to expect a late June release date on a Verizon Treo. He had no details on the product (like the three questions about camera, blue tooth, and screen res), but would forward specs via e-mail once he had them. He said he breifly handled a demo last week and it supposedly was the finished version, but they have a few more weeks before they are available for purchase. I'll add more info on specs if he forwards them to me.

Palm Shipping More Treo Units

excerpt:

Colligan offered the prospect of new deals with carriers coming later this year in both regions. According to an investment bank report published earlier this month, PalmOne is on the verge of signing a deal with Verizon, the one remaining US wireless carrier that does not yet offer the Treo 600. The report claimed that the 610 would be offered by Verizon, and indeed the carrier may well have demanded a slight variation on the 600 the better to differentiate its offering from those of other carriers.

WTB: Treo 600 for parts

I would prefer that the screen be intact, however, any condition besides that is acceptable.

Treo 600-610 with Goldmine?

I have been using the Treo 300 with Sprint and can't wait for Verizon to offer the Treo. However, my company has implemented GOLDMINE 6.5 and I am trying to find anyone who has experience working with PDAs - possibly even the Treo - and Goldmine. More importantly, I am trying to find a PDA system to work with Goldmine - yet even the software source says that none really work with PDAs well.

Anyone out there able to help? Thanks in advance!

Internet Questions

Is the internet available on the TREO 600
true internet or a limited version of the internet? Can I search most websites? Is the Sprint service slow? Please someone explain since I am considering buying this phone.
Thank you in advance.

Screen Quality among other things.

I was just doing a comparison between this and the Kyo 7135. I was noticing the color debth in the 7135 is much deeper then what the Treo 600 has, but looking at the screen shots the Screen of this phone looks much beter then the 7135. There was other features too that while this phone looked snazier (is that a word?) The 7135 just looked over all better then this phone... Outside the obvious OS vs 5.0 agenst 4.3 (I got the 7135 now that has the vs 4.3). any oppions on this?

Treo 600 vs. Samsung i500?

OK, I"m sure this topic has probably been worn out, but I'm going to ask anyway. Any thoughts on the comparison of these phones? My plan was to use it more as a phone than an organizer, but faced with the opportunity to send and receive office e-mail through the device I could see using it in that way. I have a Treo 90 and like the keyboard. I like Grafitti less, but it's a more compact phone and I like having a standard dialing pad.

Thoughts?

How unwieldy is the Treo 600? It's bigger than the Samsung, but smaller than former PDA phones. How easy is it to tote around and use in day-to-day use? It looks like it's small enough to look and feel like a phone when you're talking on it, but large enough to be noticeable relative to ...

To Do List App Problem

Has anyone else noticed that the To Do List Application on this new Palm 5 OS has a glitch? Whenever you change a due date, priority, etc on a specific task in your list, it makes that change, but then moves your cursor all the way to the bottom of the entire Task List.........very annoying! You then have to manually scroll all the way to the top to work on the next task in your list! Why???

Has anyone found a way to change that glitch, or a hack that works?

The older versions of the Palm OS did not change your view to the bottom of the task list like that - the older versions simply kept you in the same location of the task list where you made the change.

Handspring..........please send us a patch/update to fix this!!!!!!!

Treo 600 is officially "Coming Soon" to Verizon

Currently posted on the www.vzw.com home page is the following text:

Coming Soon: TreoTM 600 Smartphone

Now, of course, the link leads to a missing page (someone didn't finish their work) but I would say this is about as official as it gets.

I guess it's just a matter now of how soon is "soon".

Repairing Sprint Treo 600 Broken Screen

I recently purchased a Treo 600 and 3 days later broke the screen. I am more than willing to pay the repair cost of $179 butHandspring does not repair Treo 600 and 300 phones on Sprint service, they sent me to Sprint. Sprint said they don't fix phones. Has anyone run into this and did you get it fixed?

By the way I purchased the phone and an extended warranty at Best Buy but the extended warranties no longer cover broken screens.

Assigning Ringers...

I fell in love with this phone at BrandFest 2003 in Pittsburgh, and I'm curious about one comment regarding ringtone assignment for individual phone book entries. This is a very important feature for me as publisher of BestRingers.com, and unfortunately, may be a deal-breaker if this flexibility is not present. If any current owners of this fantastic device have any input on assigning ringers to individual phone book entries, as well as to appointments and alarms, I'd really appreciate it.

And if anyone at Sprint/Handspring/PalmOne would like to issue me one for testing and review (hint-hint), I'd be glad to take possession and publish my own review.

I'm happy with my Sanyo 5300, but it's a year old now, and it's replacement will eit...
