vx6000 vs vx4500

I'm about to switch to Verizon. Just can't decide between vx6000 and vx4500. Have any of you owned both and prefer one of the other? I don't really care about having a camera but speakerphone sound cool. Does speaker phone work in a car and how well? Any advices?

Thanks.

RING TONE OPTIONS

I'm new to having downloadable ring tones. I'm geting ready to change my V120 to the 4500. My question is that it shows MIDI. Does that mean that it excepts "POLYPHONIC or STANDARD" ring tones?

LG4500/Wireless Web

For anyone out there with Verizon Wireless and Wireless web access, is there a way to check your Yahoo! email account via your cell phone? I am mobile continously and sure makes life easy when your on the go.

Also, you ATL'iens (Atlantans of Georgia! ๐Ÿ™‚ ... hows coverage range on these pure digital phones?

Also, does the phone allow you to dial just 4 digits of a persons phone number in your phone book and then dial that phone number? My old samsung which is still in production and I love that feature.

Also, 4500 users... what do you think? I know the speakerphone is GREAT...BUT how is reception on the darn thing, does it fluctuate like Samsungs? Latest reps from Verizon are hush hush on the whole phone for some reason but we've...

resuming get it now

when you receive a call while using get it now, it pauses whatever you're doing in get it now, a game or anything, to allow you to answer the call. you can then flip the phone closed to hang up the call, and it asks whether you'd like to resume get it now when you open the phone again. is there any way to have this ability to close the phone while get it now is paused and be able to resume it when you open the phone again without having to receive a call? i ask because i'd like to be able to pause tetris, close the phone, go do something, and come back and resume the game of tetris ๐Ÿ˜›

Losing Reception

Does anyone notice that when you try to make a call it loses the signal completely and then gets it back which makes it longer to get a call out? Also I see there is no way to get into vibrate with the side keys.

training voice

I just got this phone yesterday. I went to train commands, turned it on, and it said applying training, but I never did anything except turn it on. I must say it recognized my voice better after I turned it off, but I am wondering if it was supposed to give me words to say like the training numbers part did. I am suspicious about this phone, as that didn't work, and the little plastic protector wasn't on the front. I wonder if it was used before.

Picture/Wallpaper, Ringer and Phone Book Transfer

I had posted a previous question regarding the ability to transfer personal pictures to the VX-4500. I received a reply that stated that I would have to transfer them using Verizon's web and email services. I just found out that is not entirely true. I had used Bitpim and the USB data transfer cable on the VX-4400. The old version of Bitpim will not work with the VX-4500 nor will the old data transfer cable. However, the newest Test Version of Bitpim 0.7 Test 5 with the Verizon Mobile Office Kit data transfer cable (Radio Shack hasn't released its version yet) works like a charm. This version transferred wallpaper, ringers and the phone book perfectly (even though the Bitpim web site said there were still some issues).

Manual in PDF format?

Does anyone know where to find the VX4500 manual in pdf format?

I like to convert to text, and store on my PDA for quick reference.

Thanks

Reverts to Charging Finished

I keep my phone plug into my cig lighter. The screen keeps reverting back to "CHARGING FINISHED". Seems like it does this after almost every call that I complete. I would rather have it display the time.

Anybody else have this problem?

Recording phone call

My wife, while using the 4500 the other night, managed to record part of her phone call to her mother (got her mother talking, but not the wife's side) How did she do that? I checked the book and couldn't find anything other than the small button on the outside that you can press to record a voice memo during a call. Is that what she did?

This could be very useful if someone is providing you with a phone number during a telephone call, or an address and you can't stop to write it down.

To use the voice memo during a call feature, do you hold the button down until you finsh recording, then release it?

Total Novice Question

I want to download ringtones, maybe some wallpapers. What do I need to do this. I do not have web browsing on my calling plan because it is through my work and the calling plan is somewhat restrictive.

Can I download and install these things by using a USB cable with the phone, downloading from a website and then installing to the phone? If so how do I accomplish that, and what type of cable do I need. Thanks for getting a novice started.

P.S. Verizon tried to tell me that I couldn't do this anywhere except Get It Now. Humphhh!!

voice contact: change default number ?

is there a way to change the default number associated with the voice contact? i noticed that it always calls the first number under a contact's name. I suppose you could delete all the numbers and reenter the one you want as default first, but that seems like the long way around. Otherwise, the voice contact dial is kinda weak, you have to really type in a name that'll be easily recognized by the algorithm.

get it now / Digital signal

for some reason my phone won't connect to get it now, like at all, not sure why it doesn't work but i don't really care. but the other question i have is that in the user manual and online and everywhere, even in the phone's list of icons, there is a "D" symbol that apparently indicates digital signal, which is the only kind of signal this phone gets, yet i have never seen my phone display a digital signal indicator. i can make calls fine though, i wonder what the deal is with that.
anybody know waht im talking about ?

odd, ๐Ÿ˜• , talk to you guys later

My LG-VX4500 Review

Long time lurker, but new member here........... ๐Ÿ˜

I picked up my 4500 on the 29th and its working great so far.
Iโ€™ve been waiting for this model since I first heard about it here back in September.
Using my โ€œrenew every twoโ€ย credit and the 30 dollar rebate, the phone cost me nothing.
My main reason for wanting the 4500 is because of the speakerphone & driving mode.
I drive a stick shift Acura CL-S and itโ€™s downright dangerous to try and use a cell phone when shifting gears in city traffic.
Outgoing calls are fine because I can pull over or just wait to make the call, but an unexpected incoming call when negotiating traffic is tough.

Here is how Iโ€™m using it:
I keep the phone clipped on the visor in speakerphone mode so if the...

Sync Cable

Called Radio Shack to see if they had the sync cable for the VX4500 - they said NO. Called Verizon (mistake) to ask the price of the sync cable - they said $69.95 for the home office kit. I explained that I only want a cable. They said that they do not sell the cable separately, that I have to buy the home office kit.

So........HELP. Where can I get a cable for the VX4500 at a reasonable price?

More Newbie Questions

Can someone recommend a good site to download FREE ringtones and wallpaper?

What are the chances of downloading and installing ringtones and wallpaper that "damage" the phone? (I know it is possible, but how likely is it and what precautions can I take?) And is it possible to back out an install that creates problems?

Accidental mode switching?

I had a VX4400, and if you kept it in your pocket, the side buttons would always get pressed in, resulting in the phone switching to manner or silent mode. This was a frequent complaint about the phone. The VX4500 has the same side-button feature, but I haven't seen any complaints. Does the shape or firmware somehow prevent this from happening? Any insights, anyone? Other than that, it seems like the perfect phone for me.

Speaker phone poor sound?

I just got this phone & the speaker phone was a big factor in my decision. I've used it a couple of times and the callers always say they can't hear me well so I end up not using the speaker phone.

How close do you find you have to have the phone for it to work well on speaker? (I had it on my center console.) It was better on my lap but I don't want to have to do that.

Is this maybe a problem with my unit or am I expecting too much?
