Problems With Call Waiting

I have a major issue with my vx-4500. When on a call and switching over to call waiting my screen lights up and never dims until I end my call. For obvious reasons this is a problem (decreased battery life and a hot phone). I called VZW technical support and the representative told me (after performing testing on a few models he had with him in the office) that this seems to be a design with several different models of LG phones. I'm not very happy with this situation since he believes this is not something that will be corrected with future software updates. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or found a solution to this besides just not answering the call waiting?

Speaker Phone Dead

My speaker phone died. Anyone else experience a similar problem? I've had the phone since it came out.

Luckily i'm still able to make and receive calls in non-speakerphone mode.

Good thing Verizon said they'd swap my phone, but I have to wait until Monday because their tech department doesn't have any in stock right now.

Inadvertent Press of Side Switch Sends Call to Voicemail

I utilize the plastic clip that came with the phone. When I receive a call, I often inadvertently press the top side button when I remove the phone from the clip holder, and this immediately sends the call to voicemail. Does anyone know of a way to disable this function? Thanks.

All Digital, Not So Good (VX-4500) (My review)

I am one of those people who research products to an extent it could be said that I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). I've been with verizon since December of 2002. I started my service in Athens, GA (1hr north of Atlanta) with the Samsung A-310. Reception was excellent phone was ok. I left GA and then went to OH for a month still great reception. I traveled quite a bit with that A-310 (Vegas, PA, D.C., MD, OH, GA, VA) great reception everywhere. I have since been in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area.
Now to the LG VX-4500. I was ready for an upgrade and renewed my contract and went with the VX-4500 after researching for two weeks (phonescoop/HoFo). I liked all the features on the phone, I did not want a camera. I wanted the speaker ...

How to Hang Up When in Driving Mode?

I just got this phone today, and it looks like it may be very cool. But one thing the manual doesn't explain is, how do you hang up when you are in hands-free mode (also known as driving mode)?

Say I make a call and the phone rings but no one picks up and no answering machine picks up. How do I disconnect?

Pressing the buttons on the side doesn't seem to do it.

Thanks in advance for any info.

New(?) pages on

I believe this is new. I tried to locate the PDF version of the manual for the VX-4500 a couple days ago, and found nothing. (Nothing at all about the VX-4500 for that matter.) Today I found the following link:

http://us.lge.com/Product/proddetail.do?action=mobil ... »

which does have a link on it to the (8.3MB) manual. Happy downloading. (Beats carrying the paper manual around.)

when I get a call from someone in my contacts it announces

that there is a call and according to the contact name it tells me who. My problem is that aweful digitized voice. Is there a way to change the way it announces who's calling?
TIA -Mike

Speaker Phone

The Verizon ad mentions that while in driving mode, it is totally hands free. I know that that when in driving mode it tells you who is calling, but what do you have to do to answer it? Can you voice your command so you don't have to press buttons and answer the call? Thanks in advance.

Speaker Lock ???

Has anyone found a way to lock the speaker setting in the 'ON' position for all calls ? Sometimes the speaker stays on in between calls, and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried pushing "OK" after hitting the speaker ON, but it reverts periodically. Is my phone just stubborn, or is this a glitch ?

VX-4500 33.33%Price Increase

😳 Has anyone else noticed how Venison just jumped the price UP a whopping 1/3 on this phone from $119.99 (when introduced) to $159.99 as of Monday 3/15/04?
Along the way, it was raised $10.00 to $129.99 first at the store, then also on their web site.
I guess they're still trying to clear inventory of the old VX-4400, which they're currently offering for $89.99 AFTER $30 rebate (the same price they introduced the VX-4500 for on 1/28/04!).

These silly pricing games are one reason I'm holding off on renewing my 2-yr contract with Verizon.
Another reason is the unsettled class action case ongoing since 2002, which promises substantial credits to customers for a new or renewed contract among other things. They're now supposed to settle t...

question re batterey life

I have traded in my first 4500 due to a slew of reasons, ( I believe it was used too), anyway they gave me back the same battery with the new phone.

The new phone appears to work fine, except the battery life. I only get 30-36 hours of standby time. During this time I made about 2-3 calls of less than a minute. I have a signal of about 3 bars in my home, and a better signal on the road.

Is this typical for this phone, or do I have a bad battery? I am used to getting 4 days standby with more usage and a worse signal on my old 120c

That Damn Verizon Wireless Banner

Is there anyway to get rid of the Verizon Wireless Banner on the inside screen of the phone. My father has the same phone and got it a week before me and he does not have that annoying banner below my personal banner. My only reason complaining is that it covers half the wallpapers and if i want to change my wallpaper and purchase one i would like to be able to see it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Headset use with VX4500

Use the headset 99% of the time with VX4500. I'm hearing complaints of poor voice quality when using headset. Remove headset and quality improves significantly. Speakerphone is good, but don't need to impress anyone by using it and I don't want everyone in the immediate vicinity to hear my phone conversation.

Got this phone for "speaker-independent voice recognition" capability so that I could finally be as close to "hands-free" as one could get, but the headset voice quality issue is creating some problems.

I have tried multiple headsets and just haven't found the right one. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Thanks

Symbol on the "1" key

Does anyone know what the symbol under the @ on the number 1 key do?

To me, it looks like a little film container.

i broke my phone....well not really

Hey everyone!

I did this awhile ago, but I haven't been on this site since I got this phone. Anyway, if you want to use the phone closed, using the speakerphone, you can do it for either incoming or outgoing calls. Obviously a couple different ways for incoming calls have been described, but nobody has said anything about making a call with the phone closed. Well if you set the voice commands to when you flip open the phone, then play with the flip, like open/close it twice quickly and let it close the light should stay on and you will hear the voice over the speakerphone "please say a command..." then you can say contacts or digit dial or whatever and make a call! If you can't get it to work keep trying, it is just tricky. Like sometimes...
