Samsung SCH-610 almost here, should I wait for the V810?

The buzz seems to be that the SCH-610 is almost here. What are people's feelings about whether I should wait for the V810. Here is my take, which doesn't really offer a conclusion.

Reasons to wait for the V810
+ Analog capable (AMPS800)
+ Motorola makes solid phones, I have had a Startac for 3+ years.
+ Picture ID
+ USB
+ Custom Ringtone/Graphics
+ smaller
+ Picture quality?

Reasons not to wait
- The Motorola is so small that battery life might suck even more than most camera phones
- it might not come out until the end of April
- The Samsung has been approved for a year and might be really stale.
- That rotating camera looks like it might break easily (ie. need to be held in place so it doesn't roll down).
- The Motoro...

VZW Mystery Phone?

This probably means nothing, but check out the pics of this phone on HoFo. You can almost make out the Verizon logo on the front of the phone. Could this be the infamous v710

Updated news

Here's my 2 cents on the 810:

The 810 represents what the T720 should have been but wasn't because it wasn't ready. The T720 is a piece of junk. To have come out with a color phone (finally) that had 1000 bugs and didn't even have a third (enter) key on the side makes it clear that it was rushed to market. The 810 is now a little late to market (compared the 6000, for instance) but will probably be ok. Mot probably has plans (as has been stated) for a high-end phone in the second half of '04 and is launching this one first. Consider this a medium range phone.

For those of you who have used the V8160, V8162, or any other Vader series, this phone very much reminds me of it in terms of the case materials, weight, and size. I loved my V816...

๐Ÿ˜‰
Who is this phone king? How do you know this info? There will be a lot of upset people if your info is not true. Lets say that your info is true, "in a few weeks" what does this specificaly mean? We are all waiting for this phone but the story and my story stands, about there lagging on production of the phone(s). I have concrete info on the Audiovox 9900, motorola 710, and the lgvx7000, they will be out in April 2004 with Video. How about that phone king?

Reason For Delay!

From the Wall Street Journal 1-28-04:

Motorola Inc.'s problems getting camera phones into the market in a timely manner have been widely reported. The world's No. 2 cellphone maker missed virtually the entire U.S. holiday shopping season with new phones that Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. hoped to promote heavily during the top-selling period of the year.

AT&T Wireless and Cingular, a joint venture of SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp., are finally selling Motorola camera phones. But Verizon Wireless still hasn't.

How come? According to a person familiar with the matter, Verizon Wireless got a model from Motorola -- called the V810 -- in December and technicians brought it into their tes...

PHONE_TECH's claims hold no validity on this board.

This is the second forum that PHONE_TECH claims that a phone is "back to the drawing board." Has anyone here realized that his claims are unsubstantiated. What caused the phones to be sent back to the "drawing" board? Who or what is the source of this information? If you try to ask him again, he won't reply. So, don't get bent out of shape when a phone groupie claims that it won't be available anytime soon.

Continue with your wishful thinking... mine is availability March 2004.

Held 810 today!!!

I held the motorola 810 today and it is very small!! It is smaller than the v60 and light also about 3 ounces!! It is in the 1st testing stages for verizon and they are getting feedback from the testers which is who showed me it. He had 2 problems with it---the pictures are dark when taken(easily fixable), and battery life is suspect not surprising comsidering the size and color display and flash!! It wont be seen until april from what i hear but should be worth the wait!!

To be given at the Oscars to nominees...Due in March

โ€ยข Motorola will dial up the acting and director nominees and send them the new V810 camera cell phone (in stores in March), complete with the latest games and ring tones. Value: about $350. Oscar, can you hear me now?

that's the last paragraph at this article on USAtoday regarding the contents of the gift bag for Oscar nominees.

What the F@$#@**

๐Ÿ˜ณ
So you all have no real info onthis phone. Motorola will always lag on their products you all know this,Man! It will never matter on the FCC approvals, like I told you guys before, Verizon has the final word on the approval of the device-not Motorola. Motorola all it does is build a product and says"here is your product see if i did it right". Hey, it could be worse, look at Samsung's a610!

Size

For some reason when I get a new cell phone I keep the old one, and today I ran across my tired V60c. I picked it up and was amazed at how small and light it was, I guess I had kinda forgotten since I upgraded to the Toshiba CDM-9500, incase you havn't seen one or held one, its kinda on the bulky side, same goes for the upcoming CDM-9900. So I was wondering how the V810 held up size and weight wise to the once almighty V60, so I used this website's compare phones feature, and the V810 is smaller and lighter on all accounts than the V60. That blew my mind cause looking at the pics it looks alot larger than the V60. So I would say this phone is def worth the wait. ๐Ÿ˜

is V810 the NAmer version of V880?

Isn't the V810 just a watered down version of the V880? Does anyone have an idea if Motorola will be releasing the V880 in NAmer? I saw this phone in Asia and it kicks a$$!
