Droid Incredible vibrate mode

How is the vibrate mode on the Droid Incredible? I ask this, because about six or eight months ago I purchased a Droid Eris. I was so excited, but after about twenty minutes of having it activated, I decided to deactivate it and go back to my good ole trusty LG VX8700 that I have used for the past four years. The problem was that the vibrate mode on the Eris was so weak, that I was walking around the house testing receiving calls on it, and I could not tell it was ringing. First and foremost these devices are telephones, and if I don't know anyone is calling me, what is the point of having it. I guess it is obvious that for me, a reliably strong vibrate mode is a function that is a dealbreaker. Thanks for any input anyone can give me.

Is the battery really THAT bad?

I'm 3 months from my next phone. Unless something else phenomenal is released by then, I'll probably get an Incredible. I like what I'm reading for the most part, but it sounds like the battery really sucks. I remember my first cell phones in the late 80's and early 90's. They were big, clunky analog phones with a ni-cad battery. You were almost afraid to use it because the battery wouldn't make it through an entire day. I hated that. I was so thrilled when they came out with lithium ion batteries which would go multiple days between charges. I know, I know...these new smart phones do WAY more and it all uses power. But it really takes the fun out of the experience if you're always looking at a "low battery" indicator. I've seen af...

Turn by turn directions?

I've seen turn-by-turn directions advertised as a feature for the moto droid, but never for the incredible.

Does the incredible have audible turn-by-turn directions/navigation?

No text input

Is there a way to for the keyboard to come up when browsing the web? I have had several occasions where I wanted to input text, but the keyboard wouldn't come up when I clicked on the text box.

Is Incredible worth the battery headaches?

I did things a bit backwards, ordered the phone yesterday and THEN paid attention to this forum 🙄

From looking over the forum, two things are clear:
1. Battery lige is CLEARLY the biggest drawback to the incredible
2. Menno answers an awful lot of posts 😁

So, two questions:
- Is the incredible worth putting up with the battery? Staring at low battery all the time seems to take the fun out of it? If I charge nightly and during my long-ish commute, will I be okay?

- I often go camping from Fri eve till Sunday - no charging source available. Will the battery make it that long if I use Incredible as "just a phone" (assuming I can shut down e-mail, etc)?

Why is the phone HOT!!!??

Simply put, the phone gets hot at seemingly random times for seemingly no reason. Email is always running and i am not using the phone for anything else and it is cool. And then other times during the exact same usage, it is quite hot (well very warm to the touch). I cant understand why it does this from time to time when i am not changing my usage. this has to be a serious drain on the battery when it is this hot. What is causing this?

1750,so far so good

Got the 1750mah battery today. Gave it an initial phone-off charge, which it charged to full in 2 hours. Then after using the phone a lot for over 9 hours i still have 60% left so i have to say im happy i spent the $41. And hopefully it will get even better as time goes on.Definitely recommend this Seidio battery bought from amazon.com

notification sounds vs ringtones

if i download a ringtone from zedge (or anywhere for that matter) it ends up in my ringtones folder, and ultimately the sound settings gives me the option to make that file a ringtone. but when i go into notification settings for messages- or to be more specific, handcent's notification settings- i can an entirely different set of ringtones- none of which are my downloads. any ideas?

Go with the Incredible or ait for the Moto Droid Extreme?

I'm going to make the leap to Android. Any opinions on which device is better or which UI is easier? Thanks.

Don't do what I did!

I Exported my 300+ Contacts from People to the Storage Card. That worked fine.
(Later, I learned, when I did that, I lost my Group assignment for each contact.) That is not the bad!

Here's the bad!
I thought I would do an Import from the Storage Card to People, thinking surely the process would provide an "Out" so that I could stop the process before execution and surely the process will not allow duplications. Wrong on both assumptions!

Well, it did not provide an "Out" and the Import Process immediately executed. There was provided a "Cancel" of continuing the process but I thought it best to continue the Import.
The end result was...I had 600+ Contacts in People; each contact was duplicated. That wasn't good.

To correct, ...

Text-to-Speech Question

On the Incredible,
when I go to Settings-->Text-To-Speech, I find the Install Voice Data selection "Grayed Out" and not available for selection.

I want to have Text-To-Speech operation available and I know I must download and install a program from the "Market" but I do not know which one will work on the Incredible.

I tried one download, SpeechSynthesis Data Installer...it wasn't successful at all. It did not seem to install anything. Anyway, could not find where it did install or any way to un-install.
It must have been a bad choice on my part.

Not sure what I need to do and any suggestions to get a functional Text-To-Speech operation going on this Incredible will be appreciated.

BTW...the Speech-To-Text which came with th...

Voice dialing

Does anyone know of a good app that will do voice dialing similar to the iPhone or Windows Mobile?

One other thing, has anyone entered a pin number in an address book entry with a pause after the number? If so, does it work when you put the handset up to your face and the screen goes black?

Any idea if Android 2.2 will fix the BT problem and add some hands free capabilities?

View callers/texters name

When i receive a call, text message, or email from somebody, it always just shows the phone number and not the persons name.

Does anyone know how to make that setting in the INC.

Thanks

Phone ID - in case phone is lost

On all past phones, I have been able to have my name and a landline number appear on the startup screen, so a finder would know who to call - never had it happen, but it seems useful. This phone is inaccessible to a finder if locked. I have only found two ways to do this on the HTC Incredible, neither elegant:
1. Edit a JPG wallpaper to include the info so it appears on the lock screen.
2. Put a Post-It note under the transparent silicone cover.

It would be nice if the "Emergency Call" feature could be programmed to allow this.

I'd be grateful if anybody can tell me how to do this.

Random Resetting

So I was sitting here browsing the forums when my phone started vibrating. There I was thinking it was a text message. It turns out my phone reset again! This happened to me last week but I didn't think anything of it. I still have half the battery left. Anyone else experiencing any resets? I bet if I bring it into Verizon they'll say they can't replicate the damn issue. 👿
