Another V600 alternative

The Sony Ericsson Z600.

Not quad band, but does have changeable covers like the V600 and unlike the X70. It also has an IR. It seems its biggest downside is its size. 5mm thicker than the V600. Reviews are saying this is the best Sony Ericsson yet. I don’t know which provider will carry this phone. It is on eBay going for about $400 and the international sites for getting sim-free phones. What does everyone else think? A good alternative?

V600 Alternative

I am just as frustrated as every else here with the constant delays. I have been holding out switching to GMS until this phone comes out, but if it doesn't come soon I have looked at this phone as well.

Panasonic x70

It has all of the functionality of the v600, including a camera light and IR, which the v600 does not have. The only shortfall I can see is the polyphonic ring tones are only 16 versus the 32 the v600 will have. This phone is slated for AT&T Wireless as well and it has the FCC License approval already.

I still like the look of the Motorola a little better, but we can't wait forever.

V600 Q1 2004 for this reason

I read some articles on the web and in our local newspaper last week that stated the release date for the V600 will be Q1 2004. The problem is not FCC issues apparently, the problem is the shortage in parts for the built-in micro cameras. The problem is industry wide; however, Motorola has even more issues because their camera parts are smaller and harder to come by.

I'm not sure if i buy the whole thing because the v300 is out for T-Mobile and it is built on the same platform as the v600. I guess we will find out next year. 😢

FYI: YOURE A RETARD

First, they do NOT have it in stock.

Second, if ANYBODY had it, it would be important Motorola employees and they wouldn't pawn it off to some store so they could make a couple hundred bucks.

Third, I doubt there are ANY working v600's in the publics hands, nevermind some store.

Motorola PCS CEO speaks about V600

"The Motorola V300 and V500 began shipping earlier in the quarter and are available today, and the V600 will ship imminently," Lynch said. "Unit volumes, however, are lower than our customers are asking for due to supply constraints for the integrated-camera components."

Hopfully we'll see it soon, but when it comes out you better get one quick because it looks like the supply will be limited.

tired of waiting

Motorola has finally acknowledged the delays in the v500/600 phones. And it seems that when the phones are finally released, there will be short supplies and long backorders.

Motorola has teased me with this phone long enough. I don't think I'm still willing to pay a premium to get this phone when it comes out. I will probably either wait until the price drops, or look into the SE z600 or the panasonic x70.

And while i'm complaining, why did they bother to come out with another version, the v400? Why would they waste the time and money in producing another version, especially one without bluetooth. No IR, no bluetooth, it just doesn't make any sense.

Motorola handset deliveries slowed

"Motorola Inc., the world's No. 2 maker of cell phones, said Thursday that supply constraints for parts used in phones with integrated digital cameras were slowing deliveries."

"The V600 camera-phone will be delayed until "some time in the first quarter," a Motorola spokesman told CNNfn, due to the supply issues."

Is it true this phone doesn't have IrDA? Just when I thought I'd found the perfect phone...

Need Help finding a carrier in Philly

I need help in selecting a phone carrier. I am torn between ATT, T-Mobile, & Cingular. I decided against Verizon because I do not like their phones. I want a national GSM plan. Can anyone shed some light for me? My main concerns are quality of service, knowlegable & helpful customer service, plan prices and phones. I want to get a phone similar to the qualities of the V300 or the Panasonic X70. Can anyone out there help me?? Anything help is greatly apprecieated.

Hopefully more news today from Motorola

The Motorola COO is doing a webcast presentation today. Info can be found here...

http://www.motorola.com/mediacenter/news/detail/0,,3 ... »

At the last technology presentation, they stated the V600 will ship in December. Hopefully they'll clear that up and give a more defined date.

Starts after the market closes.
