SIM Free

Hi Everyone. At the risk of being blasted and called "ignorant" or something, let me start by saying I'm new here and rather than poke around to try and find an answer, I figured it would be quicker and easier to pick the brains of the experts. 😁

No, I'm not going to ask what CDMA vs GSM is...

I keep hearing the Motorola V600 referenced on the web as being "sim free" Is this just a fancy way of them saying the phone is unlocked in the case in which they are referring? I think no. If that's the case and this is SIM free, can't we use this phone on any GSM network?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Speaker phone and release date 1/15/04

I spoke to a Motorola rep today and he confirmed to me that the Motorola V600 does have a speaker phone in it. Also, he confirmed that the phone would be release and ready to buy on 1/15/04.

Pricing on v600?

Does anyone know what the target retail price for the v600? I saw some places on the internet selling it for clost to $1000. Not sure if those prices are realistic when I compare the functions and features of the v600 to SonyEricsson p800 or p900. The p800 is selling for $500. The new p900 is not released yet but it is at around $850 (again on the internet). The SonyEricsson models have comparable features... camera and support Bluetooth. They also have "PDA" built-in. Not sure why v600 is selling for more on the internet right now. 😕

Did anyone else see this?

I registered on this site some time ago, and was just recently send a link for v600 promotion from motorola. The offer expires on March 31, 2004. Hopefully this means the v600 will hit the streets shortly.

v600 holster

This may be a stupid question but it is something I have become accustom to. Does the v600 have a holster like the v60? I don't think this would stop me from buying one but I'll need to consider how to carry it. I can not seem to find this information listed anywhere.

available for T-mobile?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if the V600 is going to come out for T-mobile. The CR guys have no clue about this (T-mobile has the v300 at this time, which I don't particularly like). I have been waiting from summer now for this phone but I see no point in waiting much longer if the phone is not going to come out for my service provider. Thanks.

V400 VS V600 V810

cingular is now telling me the v400 will not be out until the 2nd week in january and they told me they will not be carrying the v600 at all!

I guess I'm stuck with the 400, sure hope it has all the features the 600 has except bluetooth.

I really need to transfer photos from my pc to the phone and i dont think the 400 is usb.

now what's all the hype with the v810?

V600 Alternative

Can anyone provide feedback on two alternatives for the V600?

How about the Samsung X426 of the NEC 525. With respect to RF quality (primary) and battery life (secondary)...anyone have any experience with these?

V600 for Verizon

First off, I'm glad I am not the only other person who has been waiting months for this phone. I actually own a v60 and have had it for over two years because I haven't found I phone I really like yet. I saw the v600 many months ago when it was first put on the Motorola site as a "coming soon" product. Its been over eight months and its still not out. However my question is this: Does anyone know if this phone will be available for verizon or is there anyway to get it for verizon. It sucks so much to have waited for this phone for so long and it says its only going to be available for at&t. ☚ī¸

v400 vs v600

have a few questions on these phones

1) can either of these phones be used for uploading jpeg photos from from my
computer to the cell phone to display the photos and the cell phone screen.
I'm not refering to pictures taken with the phone camera, I mean to take
jpeg pictures off my pc hard drive and storing them on the cell phone for
viewing. It's my understanding that both phones have a 5mb hard drive.

2) if this can be done, how would you do it with the v400 as it is not USB
only the v600 is

3) what is pc sync- I dont believe the v400 has that feature

4) what is sync ml?

I really want the v600, but my current phone has had it, the screen doesnt
even display any longer and i need a phone now, I currently have cingular

Confirmed from AT&T Rep

I emailed our corporate rep who manages our entire region and she talked with the Motorola rep and they confirmed it will NOT be out until Q1 2004. Our rep seemed to be more inclined that it would be February or March because the Motorola rep was fairly vague on the timing of the release when she asked early or late Q1.

Again AT&T will get the phone approxmately 2 weeks before they will sell it to the public and they have not seen the phone at all.

I'm waiting

🙄

Looked at the X70 and a couple other phones from At@t and just said screw it i'll wait another month or so. It's supposed to be out in January now right?

The X70 seems like it would be much more expensive and I like the design of the v600 better.

Later...

Microphone?!

Is there a microphone in the v600 to record voice memos, etc.? That would make it the ultimate phone!! 🙂
