Question

How could Verizon hype a Motorola smart phone over an HTC? As reliable as HTC has been and Motorola (need I say more)? So I was wondering about the Google Voice application on the Droid and I started thinking: Hey! Isn't there another Android phone on Verizon? I mean I never hear anyone hyping this phone. NEVER! I read the reviews and one reviewer even says that Verizon is intentionally under-powering this phone in hopes of pushing the Droid as its flagship device. BAD MOVE! Some of us (me for sure) will never get the bad taste that the Silver Q left out. I mean NEVER! Anyway... How is the Google Voice app on this phone?

Battery Life

Hello Forum,

Has anyone else using this phone experienced less than stellar battery performance? Today I turned my phone on at 0800 and by 1530 it was in the yellow (very low). Sent one text, made maybe five calls, received three emails. I have my email setting to check download emails at five minute intervals (coming from a BB Storm1 w/5.0). Also a little disappointed to find out that the voice dial function did not support dialing initiated from a bluetooth headset. Any thoughts/suggestions on the battery life?

Thanks in advance...

adobe flash

Does anyone know if the Eris supports adobe flash for videos and websites that require adobe flash? Having no adobe flash is one of several things that have kept me from an iPhone.

Clock Wrong

I live in AZ where there is no daylight savings time. On my home screen the clock thats displayed (with the current weather as well) is 1 hour eailer than the actual time. The time in the upper right hand corner is correct though. In addition the weather is not updating on its own. I can wake up in the morning and its sunny out and the screen is still showing the moon and a lower temperature than it actually is. I do have my location on, the clock set to automatic, and the wheather set to auto update. Any suggestions on what could be wrong, or what i could have set-up incorrectly? I dont know if this matters or not to my question but on google maps my GPS is off by like 3 miles.

Backing Up Phone

Is there a way to back up all the data and info on the Eris to your PC? I have a Palm phone and have a software pkg that came with the phone that syncs.

No keyboard demo?

Thanks for the video demo. I'm bummed you didn't demo the on-screen qwerty keyboard though.

Caller ID Ringtones

Does the Eris have a way to set specific ringtones to specific callers that are saved in contacts?

Camera issue

I was wondering if anyone else is having an issue with the camera. If I am not completely still the picture is blurry. Does it not have image stabilization? I upgraded from the storm and it took fantastic pictures (very slowly). I have looked through the settings to see if maybe it wasn't turned on but couldn't find it. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks

1 MUST HAVE FREE APP

its called Advanced Task Killer and u can get from marketplace or whatever googles app store is called.

there is no task manager on the device to close apps so alot of issues like slowness or freezing can be remedied, even battery life can be extended if u keep the number of running apps to a minimum.

also keep in mind pressing hold down the home key shows most recent used apps, it doesnt show what apps are currently running

Alarm

Hi All...

I just received my Eris today and its very interesting. Kinda a pain in the ---- but with patience, you will get the hang of it.

Question: Is it possible to higher the volume to the alarm? It rings so low, I am afraid I might miss it.

If anyone know how to fix that, please let me know.

Thank you! 😁

Clock display

Can you change the clock display on the home screen? I hate the retro-looking number display, but like the phone pretty well otherwise.

What about Sprint

I'm totally sold on this phone, but I'm not sold on the fact that Verizon sees fit to charge around $30 more than Sprint for almost the exact same bundle.
Right now, I pay $69/mo for 450 minutes with unlimited text & data. Oh and nights and weekends start at 7pm.
Verizon is $99/mo for the same bundle, but since their "nights" start at 9pm (and weekends don't start till midnight Sat morning!), I'd probably have to pay even more to get the 900 minutes!

Screw that! I'd rather pay full price for the Eris and use it on my Sprint plan. As far as I can tell, the Eris supports the same networks as the HTC Moment, so this should work, right? Is the phone locked, or can you easily port android phones across carriers? Would be nice...

Verizon really aggressive this year

Android phones, Crackberry Storm 2. Very interesting things going on. Now all they gotta do is have better pricing plans.

"I could go either way" Review

It's comforting to know that some people's gripes about the Droid Eris are user errors, not legitimate flaws...

"1. Screen lock easily unlocks without an unlock pattern. It also locks the screen immediately without allowing a setting to time the wait before lock."

Incorrect. There ARE settings for this. It coincides with the screen timeout setting.

"2. Keeps shutting off and requesting a force shutdown due to unexpected Android OS error."

That's probably for one of two reasons:

01) You've got one or more downloaded apps that cause the aforementioned errors.

02) You've got a phone that has a botched OS installation, or you (or someone else) did a factory reset on it (a known issue).

"3. Cannot download ...
