Audiovox CDM-8900

Hi, this is probably a dumb question, but I just bought an Audiovox 8900 and I can't figure out what the TTY mode is all about. Can someone please explain this to me?

Can someone tell me how loud the earpiece volumne is on this phone? LG's seem to be loud, and many Motorola's are way inferior (esp. the V710). I require an earpiece that I can hear in loud environments and may even need to turn down in quieter environments. Thanks.

can I use the GPS as a GPS for PocketPC(destinator) with an appropriate cable/adaptor?

is there any websites that offer ringtones compatible to this phone? i've looked at the BREW option in the phone for downloading rings right from there, but they are like 10 dollars for 10 uses or something crazy like that! i just want to buy a few for a dollar a piece online that i can keep as long as i want, but it seems this phone just doesn't work with the sites...? it plays polyphonic ring tones, shouldn't it be able to recieve them from online?

Anyone can tell me how to erase all my contacts off my phone. I am giving my phone to someone and I have 200+ names to erase and one by one is not cutting it.

Thanks guys, I have finally figured out how to download GIF animations on my phone. I found some pretty cool ones to. I forget who but someone asked for a good GIF website, I found that by doing a search using the words GIF FILES ANIMATIONS- brought me to a lot of great sites. I do however have a problem now...I can not figure out how to send ringtones. I know it was supposed to be the same way but I can't get it to work any advice?

Even though page 84 of the Verizon\Audiovox 8900 manual says that the phone will "Not" make a sound when taking a picture in "SILENT" mode, it still does.
Any one having the same problem?
Is it a bug or is the manual incorrect (YET AGAIN)?
Any known fixes?

I have noticed from this forum, that people are sending their pics or ringtones via some mail feature. Is there a way to get pics and ringtones from my PC to my phone via a direct connection? I am looking to purchase this phone soon and this is important to me. Thanx in advance!

I know this phone has 'equitte' mode.. which I call vibrate mode. I'm used to vibrate mode being vibrate first for a few rings and then converting to audible ringing... can't this phone do this?

Isn't there an easier way to activate voice dailing than having to open the phone, press menu, 8, voice dial, etc..... I'm used to motorola with voice dial button on the side.

Also the voice tags aren't near as flexible as other phones.. I tried to record "brents cell" and "brads cell" and it told me the two are too similar.

I have heard from a couple people who got their 8900s in S. Cali that their outer display does NOT flash between the date/time and "Verizon Wireless". Is this true? If so, I may have to order one from Santa Barbara, because that is a HIGHLY annoying feature.

I don't have a land line at home, but I would like to have an emergency backup way to connect to the net when the cable goes out, and when I'm away. I always procrastinated at getting the kit for my old phone, but I'd like to get one for my 8900 if it will work.

I know the Mobile Office Kit will supposedly work with Verizon's Quick 2 Net service... can I use the kit to dial up standard modem pools like my universty's isp? Would it incur any extra charges? I'm not worried about the slow speed, I just need to connect to a terminal connection to check out what's up from time to time, and that would work great wherever I am as long as it doesn't cost extra.

i wanna get a camera phone but don't know which one to choose out of the 2.

This phone, like many others plays an obnoxious song when you turn it on and off. Is there a s00per seekrit way to make that stop?

I didn't see anything in the manual for it.

Can someone tell me if you can transfer pictures from the 8900 to your PC without using the verizon network? (i.e. through a cable or something?)

i've got a picture of my girlfriend as my wallpaper and the time display covers her lips, and i cant figure out how to move it or make it go away, anybody have any ideas?

is there a way i can turn off the time display on the LCD? i cant figure it out..
