1 MUST HAVE FREE APP

its called Advanced Task Killer and u can get from marketplace or whatever googles app store is called.

there is no task manager on the device to close apps so alot of issues like slowness or freezing can be remedied, even battery life can be extended if u keep the number of running apps to a minimum.

also keep in mind pressing hold down the home key shows most recent used apps, it doesnt show what apps are currently running.

EMAIL

Although not a BB, seems like email management is reasonable EXCEPT....when deleting a message from email list, the message repopulates when refreshing emails. Is there anyway to delete the email from the POP server to eliminate this. Otherwise, why even offer delete option? Help.

Apps on the Droid

I am considering getting this phone but the apps are what is keeping me on the iPhone.

Where can I find a list of all the apps? Does it store the apps on the memory card so I can have it up to 32gb like my iPhone? Will it play all my songs that I have in my iTunes folder? Can I access and download TV shows and movies and watch them when I fly?

Please if anyone can point me to where all their apps are I would appreciate it.

Only 1 Thing Keeping This From .....

... being Verizon's Ace in the Hole versus the iPhone. GSM in addition to CDMA so it can work worldwide. One shouldn't have to be forced into a Crackberry Storm for that purpose.

Just my 2¢

Motorola makes a laggy phone? No way.

Not suprising that moto can't manage to make a smooth running device... I always assumed it was the verizon OS.. but must be a moto processor issue... It's a shame, I'll wait for the HTC version.

Impressions in 20 minutes

The keyboard is better in person than the review indicated. At least for me. I could get used to it.

The "gold" d-pad and button is bit flashy.

The screen is AWESOME. By far the best thing about this phone (besides the OS).

My primary gripe right now is the camera and its inability to focus. Every single picture it takes is out of focus. It gets little better if you put it in Macro mode for close-ups, but its still not the optimal focus - still little blurry. Looks like a software issue, so hopefully they fix it soon.

Is this phone capable of Pop email accounts through time warner cable? I ask because the Hero with sprint running android doesn't work....won't authenticate or connect with smtp server.

definitely drooling for this phone but this is a must have.

Use the Droid in Europe and Latin America?

Been waiting for a Smartphone on the VZ network like the Droid for quite some time. However, it's CDMA with no GSM.

Even though I've had the same cell number for sixteen years, my knowledge of using the CDMA phones throughout the international arena is limited.

Tell me, w/o the GSM mode... how can I use this phone internationally?

Or should I wait for a tri or quad-mode version of the Droid to be released on the VZ network?

Curse the nerd in me, but the Star Wars app would have been enough for me to go Android. Yes, Chewbacca??? Oh ****, that's a text message...

Initial thoughts...

So far, I am very impressed. I am a little disappointed there is no spell check (a life saver on the blackberry,) but I should not blame this beautiful phone for my ****ty spelling. I am quite pleased with the keyboard, which is a bit of a shock considering the reviews and my big hands (getting used to the delete key/enter key situation-only beef with keyboard so far: hitting enter key sends text, which is good, but I have sent a few texts on accident when reaching for the delete key.) The youtube videos actually load in high quality as fast as my Macbook, which makes me more mad at the Macbook than anything, and it wasn't on wifi when I tried it out. No re-buffering at all! All of the handjobs directed in Motorola's direction in regard...

Droid vs. HTC Touch Pro2

Which one is better?
I need it to access work email and do work stuff. I can't get the blackberry.

Will both be able to get email from my outlook pushed to the phone? My contacts and my calendar?

Thanks!!!

I noticed a few discrepencies in review.

I believe you have a version with the non final software. Since I do remember when training on phone the original software was laggy for the camera but playing with the devices that will be selling Friday the Camera and Video work Great, Also in the Marketplace their is a Tab for Verizon software so far their is VZW Tones, My Verizon, Visual Voicemail, etc etc. I know this phone is going to be a hit and can't wait to get my own. I cant find any negatives yet on the final release except that it is not launching with tethering capabilty but will have that later implemented.

The Droid or the BB Storm 2?

I really want the storm 2 but am concerned about the ONLY touch screen phone. Now, I see the droid and it has the keyboard much like my voyager did. Maybe something I should consider..

Can you tell me the MAJOR differences between the droid and the storm 2 and what your opinions are of which to pick? THANKS so much! I appreciate any help!

in hand!

first right off the bat! heavy! size wise 1/4" longer then storm, about the same as width and a shay thinner even with the keyboard. the slide is a lil tight but I'm sure it will loosen up after use. 5.0 camera is clean and they were joking about the video quality. the touch screen is nice and and responsive. unfortunately i cant hook it up cause they have a no-sell deal till tomorrow. so el no-o on service-o till 6th. other then that it comes with a 16g micro sd and uses the micro usb. have fun! with out hooking it up yet i give it a 4/5.

voice control question

so, you can control navigation with your voice. you can search the internet with your voice. you can search the contents of the phone with your voice. you can dial with your voice.....but is there a "vlingo-esque" application for android that will allow me to send a text message without having to use my opposable thumbs?
