Virtual Voicemail

I noticed that verizon charges $2.99 for virtual voicemail for the driod phones. Can you get a free app that has this capability or do you need to pay the fee? The iphone doesnt charge for it so why did verizon need to?

Opening (expoloring) Droid via Windows PC???

I connected my Droid to 2 different Windows Vista machines (as instructed by Moto site) and see a removable storage drive appear, but I cant open/explore it. Error says to insert disc. Odd. I want to copy a video file I created over to my PC.

On my 2nd phone already!

I bought the Moto Droid on Friday and i gotta say that this phone rocks. I had lots of fund playing with it and getting to know the phone. Lots of great apps.

So the problem started on Saturday morning. I charged the phone overnight and set the alarm to wake me up on Saturday morning. To my surprise, the alarm never went off. When i picked up the phone, the phone looked dead. The screen was off and when i tried to turn it on it wouldn't turn on. I pressed and held the on/off button and nothing. So i finally pulled the battery and put it back in and what do you know, it turned on.

So i was hopping that this was a one time deal as the phone was working with no other issues. To my surprise, it did the same thing on Sunday mor...

Googe question

Is there any way to link contacts (gmail) with google calendar?

For example, is there a way to have a birthday as part of contact information and then that can be sync'd to calendar...seems intuitive

Droid power cycle

Like a ton of others... I was at my local Verizon store this morning at 8am. I bought my droid and was eager to get it home and play with it but could not leave the store for another 2 hours!!! 3 different Droids and 2 hrs later I finally left the store with a Droid in hand. The Verizon rep went through the initial startup with the first Droid and it would power cycle on and off about once every 4-5 minutes. He DOA'd that phone and got another one from the back. This phone gave the same results. The third phone he got from the back is the one I currently have next to me. It did not power cycle at that silly rate but it has done it about 7 times total today in about 9 hrs. And I was not alone with this problem. Both the person to my r...

IS THERE A TV-OUT FUNCTION ON THE MOTOROLA DROID??

The iPhone has a TV-OUT function which allows for viewing YouTube videos and other video streams on a big screen TV. The HTC Touch Pro 2 also has a TV-OUT feature, as well. If the Motorola Droid does not have TV-OUT, that might be a dealbreaker for me. Does anyone know if the Droid has TV-OUT??

HELP (someone w/experience in VZW phone sales)

I recently upgraded to a Blackberry Tour on Verizon and am ready to jump ship aka pick up a Moto Droid. I'm wondering if I add a new line of service on to my current family plan, keep the phone for a few days past the cancellation period, and cancel, I'd have the following costs:

$199 - Moto Droid phone
$175 - cancellation fee
$40 - 1 month of add a line + data plan (10+30)

I used to work at Best Buy wireless department (right before it turned into Best Buy Mobile) and I know people have had this work in the past. I'm figuring $415 is going to be less than the $500-$600 retail they'll probably ask for this phone.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

I am going to buy the Droid from Best Buy on Friday. I want to know if my $100 NE2 discount will be honored at Best Buy? Can anyone help me with this question?

No Tethered Modem?

I've read a number of reviews and was pumped to buy this phone today. I had it in my sweaty hands only to find out that there is no tethered modem feature which was a deal breaker for me. I left empty-handed with the Verizon promise that "they're working on it". Why would they not have this feature? Any insight out there?

Apps compared to iPhone

So this phone looks pretty exciting. And even more so from someone like me that's been dying for an iPhone on Verizon. So here's my question... why is it that the iPhone apps look so much more amazing than the apps from Android? The apps for iphone look like they have much better graphics and use 3D more. They also seem to use the accelerometer much more. Am I wrong and will Android catch up?

More smoke than substance

There is more smoke being blown in this forum than that on the Verizon ads for the droid. I love how many "experts" there are on the device considering its only been on the market for 24 hours.

Even so, the Droid looks to be pretty cool on the surface. I'll wait a bit for the smoke to clear though and see how well people really like it.

Too bad the droid is only available on Verizon.
Switching to Verizon is like going to the prom with a prostitute; for the price you paid, you're guaranteed to get screwed but you're just not sure if its going to feel good.

Personalize ring tones and text ring tones

I figured out how to make a mp3 a ring tone but is there a way to personalize individual ringtones? or to use a mp3 as a text sound instead of "droid"?

questions...

As I've only owned "dumb" phones in the past (currently have env3), I already know I'm going to be blown away by this phone. Some questions:

- does it support individual alert sounds for text messages (no sarcasm needed, we're looking at you smittycool...)

- is pandora.com supported?

- how loud is the ringer? how strong is the vibrate?

- does it support a folder structure for storing media? meaning, can I create separate directories for different types of pics, as opposed to having all 600+ in one big folder...

I appreciate anybody who can help answer the above.
