Does this phone......?

I am an avid fan of the Samsung brand. However on the original Instinct, which is my current phone, I very much dislike that it automatically begins deleting the oldest text conversations as it gets a certain amount of text messages stored. Does anyone know if the Moment phone does the same thing??

Also, I always cringed at trying to take discreet pictures and hearing a loud CLICK of the camera. (Being at a play for example, trying to be quiet.. and CLICK CLICK when you take a picture). Does this phone have an option to not hear that loud click when you snap a photo?

Thanks!

First?

Really sad. Looks like I am going to go with the Hero. Guess an overclocked processor doesn't help out much.

No Moment Here.

The Hero is much more polished than this.

Texting

So, I am a big text freak. I like to send lots of messages and sometimes the same message to several different people. Is this even possible?

debating

So i currently own the hero and have had it for 2 weeks and all has been good its been way better than my touch pro and a wee bit better than my treo 800w..
i dont use all 7 screens of sense ui and honestly miss the hardware keyboard, even though this software one on the hero is really good..
I also like the idea of the flash on the cam despite the lower res, but the no auto rotate is annoying...
800mhz processor is rad, but with an odd 35mb less ram, it makes it seem almost redunant, but bein nakey android means maybe its compensated since the hero forever runs sense ui and other extra processes that the moment wont...
And its priced the same, so there will be no $chaching$ required for the switch 😁

think i should use my 30 day ret...

Tether ability?

Hi all,

just wondering if anyone has heard if it is possible to hack the Moment to enable Tether ability. I like that ability with my TP, makes things easier when I need to run the laptop to check emails out of town.

Android 1.6 & 2.0

Is this downloadable? How does this work? Why would the phone come out with 1.5 when 1.6 is already available?

How long should it take to get 2.0? Will it definitely be available?

Does 2.0 make the phone less sluggish?

Please help...

Video?

Anyone know what the video playback options are? Does it play mpgs? Can I put a .mpg or .mov or other video file on the sdcard and then watch it on the Moment?

None of the reviews mention if it has a media player capable of watching one's own video content, ie. tv shows, videos, and/or movies.

A few reviews are up

CNET, PCMAG and Mobileburn have reviews up. Really waiting for Phonearena and engadget to get their's up since they do better at comparing it to other units (specifically HERO)... Pretty much decent reviews. Some issues with the keyboard especially spacebar placement and spacebar consisting of 2 buttons so you have to push it on either side and middle push doesn't work. Also the camera has no options except flash on or off.

Really pushing me towards the HERO now with its sense UI, multi-touch capabilities and social integration.

i wonder if...

there will eventually be a way to flash the sprint htc hero rom on this thing.. i dunno if the supported 16-bit as opposed to the 24-bit screen resolution and then the addition of a hardware kb as opposed to the built-in sw one would effect or prevent it at all... but if it is possible, that 800MHz processor on top of the Hero's plethora of widgets would make for quite a good combination 🤤

Looks thicker than 16.5mm - is it?

Anyone managed to measure this to make sure? Looks a bit chunkier than 16.5mm.

Speed vs. Hero particularly rendering web pages? and Pinch

I am wondering about the speed of this phone vs the Hero. If the processor will make a big difference or not. Not so much when switching applications, but how long to render a web page?

Does this have pinch to zoom like the Hero or a slider like the Tmobile magic? Is there an app to add two finger zoom to standard google phones?

The hardware keyboard is a trade off. Bulk versus usability when typing longer text like emails etc. The bulk for me is not an issue because my current Treo 755p is rather thick and I don't have a problem with that.

All things being = I guess I would take a keyboard, but some other features like pinch to zoom are very important,

Full Specs

Anyone where I can find the full specs on the Moment? I want to see how it compares to the Hero since the Moment & the Hero are the two phones I'm looking at to replace my Curve 8330 (unless Sprint gets the Storm 2).
