Verizon Wireless to Offer 4.7.0.148 Firmware for BlackBerry Storm

Today Verizon Wireless said that it will be offering the 4.7.0.148 firmware build for the BlackBerry Storm on Sunday, May 30. Interested users can download it directly from Research In Motion starting at 3PM EST on May 30, or wait for the over-the-air download, which will be pushed out starting at 10 PM EST Sunday evening. This is the first official update from Verizon Wireless for the BlackBerry Storm since December 2008, when it pushed out 4.7.0.76. Verizon didn't specifiy what the firmware update will fix or alter on the Storm.

well if you go over to crackberry.com aparently they are reporting that the offical updat will be may 31st so perhapse the wait is finally over for those of you who have not already left the storm for another phone

A couple of weeks ago when I started my PC and the BB desktop manager started, it gave me a message that there was a new version that I could download and install, so I said "sure, go ahead." Since that time the desktop manager won't open and start. It just freezes and tells me it can't connect to my messaging program. I have to wait about ten minutes, then just shut it down. I have tried to unistall it, but it can't do that because some file it needs is "in use" but it gives no further details to tell me what file it is. And it doesn't let me do anything to correct the problem other than just shutting it down. Anyone have this problem or know what I can do?

I am a big user of Slacker Radio...the free version.

When I am listening to a station I hit my BB button and one option is "cache current station". It is suppose to save it for me to listen to it later but does anyone know how to listen to a cache station on their desktop?

Not officially released by Verizon yet, but if you haven't updated from .75 I highly recommend upgrading to something else just to keep your sanity 😁

hey guys.. what kinda case are you guys using? i've been sticking with invisible shield for the last few years..i used it on the storm and its starting to peel, so i need some suggestions on skins or cases.. im using a cellet hoster for my storm.. what are u guys using? anyone tried those graphic skins on ebay..

it seems too cheap to be true..im kinda skeptical about those.. someone posted that its just a sticker but i dont know..lol

Okay, so the storm 2 will be iphones distant cousin from Canada; because it will drop the surepress technology.

Personally, I back the suretype technology as I feel that for people who recieve and send tons of emails per day, I don't see how a non suretype phone will allow you to type any quicker.

Hopefully, they market the first Storm to business professionals and the Storm 2 to folks in the iphone demographic.

Crackberry.com is reporting this as not a rumor but true. I hope they do like the iPhone and at least let exisisting customers purchase the new one at the new customer price. AT&T did this with the iPhone 3G.

So I am on my 5th BB Storm and I found out that my 4th BB storms issues were due to the FB v 1.5 upgrade. I got a new BB and realized the issues that I was having were due to the v1.5 upgrade even if I disabled all the calendar, message, and contacts syncing.

Does ANYONE know how to get v 1.3????

Hola people! I'm just saying that I don't believe the next storm will be full touch. I believe it will be half surepress and half qwerty.
Personally, I do like the platform of the current storm. I believe it is genious. It is the only true way to send business emails on a touch screen.

Any idea when they will make an app available so we can watch Flo Tv or any other form of mobile tv on the Storm? I know there are a few out there but nothing supports the Storm yet. I kinda miss watching rerun's of Leno...lol

Why is Verizon and RIM continuing to make everyone suffer waiting with a BlackBerry Storm with numerous software problems? It has been around 5 months now. What is going on? Who's fault is this? RIMs or Verizons or both?
Are they aware that the risktakers are downloading newer versions off of Crackberry? Do they care? Who keeps leaking these non-supported updates? Why do they do this? What's in it for them? I'm going to keep waiting since I don't want to take the risks associated with non-Verizon supported upgrades; however, I'm getting madder and madder everyday and may have to defect to another carrier if the upgrade doesn't appear soon. Any thoughts or insights into this debacle?

I just got on board the Storm express. I got a used storm from a friend running .75. I upgraded to .132 but now the battery can't hold a charge for more than a day without usage.

Not sure if I should go up (.141) or down to another version. Any suggestions?

btw, u guys tried the tower defense game yet? its one of the featured item in the crackberry site.. i downloaded it, and although it is fun.. i wish it could be better.. im so used to playing tower defense from starcraft and warcraft3 LOL!!!

When I am typing why can't I see the letter popup with light touch before I press screen all the way to get it entered? I think the iPhone shows it just above finger so you are sure you are getting what you want. Otherwise you have to press it and get the wrong letter pressed and then have to backspace to fix when missed (When you miss backspace complete mess begins). Such a small usability enhancement issue. None of these leaked updates have that needed feature. Although they did think to announce Storm 2.0 while 1.0 is still needing some [more] attention. RIMM ARE YOU THERE?
