Email Notification
I've read the posts on crackberry and the "manual," but I have yet to get an answer to this. When emails are received the phone makes an audible ring/sound. I was able to go into the profile and set it to vibrate, but I haven't been able to figure out how to end the audible sound (not good in meetings, etc.). Any one else figured this one out yet?

just set the volume for email notifications to (silent) and then you can change the vibration to custom if you want and control the length of the pulse and also how many. Hope that helps you

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm still getting the ring.

Go under the advanced setting in the Alerts profile. You must have somehow activated the audible beeps in the silent profile. Make sure the volume is set for "mute."

I hate to sound dense on this one, but when I click on the sound option and set ringtones/alerts, it does not have an advanced link. When I checked Options, there is no link to sounds. Can you provide a step-by-step method to get to the option you list above. I'm wondering if there is an option missing on my phone.

The new software does not have the same options as the Curve. Just do as you did, go to messages, then e-mail, and then make sure the volume inside that setting is set on "mute" and that you don't have it set for vibrate only when it is in the holster.

You can only change the normal profile or a custom profile. If your trying to change any other profile, that's your problem.

That would be great except that the Storm does not appear to have the same profile settings as the other Blackberries (I have an 8830 and had no problems with this - as a matter of fact, it took a software upgrade to get it to chime for appointments, but it never did chime for message notification). The only option under sounds is an advanced custom profile and I tried that and it didn't work either. I looked under options and Setup and there is still no location for changing the Normal Profile. If I've missed it, just let me know where to look.
