if i remember correctly when playing with the phone at the store, not everything had to be pressed down to activate.

Yet in another News Flash!!! This phone has two setting which you can switch back and forth from. You can have your so called iPhone touch screen and then the click to touch! Actually read about or use the phone before you make assumptions. 🤣

He is absolutely correct. It is NOT a true touchscreen. If you do a little research you will find articles on the web that also point out this fact.
The screen itself cannot actually accept any physical input. This is just an adaption of their rollerball technology. The moveable layer of glass over the screen has simply taken the place of the roller ball. The exterior layer of glass does have touch sensitive technology but not the screen itself. It is more like a transparent track pad layed over a screen than it is a touch screen.
The differences are minor but worth mentioning. The main problem with this particular approach is you cannot allow for "simple touch" action. Meaning you cannot set the phone to be able to type without pressi...

I'm typing on it just fine. Not sure I get how people are wearing 'their thumbs out typing'. All the other Blackberry's used buttons, so why should a screen that works like a button be any different? You press a button or you press a screen...how is one worse than the other?
I actually think it's easier to type on the Storm than on the iPhone, but I'm also very use to the SureType keyboard layout since I'm coming from the Pearl, so I could be a bit biased there.

It is harder because you are physically limited to one button. That button is limited by how fast it can move. On a standard keypad you can push buttons in rapid succession and one can go down while the last one is coming up. On this screen you have to wait for the button to reset completely after each keystroke.
If I get the storm again I will probably use the suretype a lot myself. I liked how the pearl worked keyboard wise when I had it. I just did not like the tiny screen.
