AT&T Multimedia Messaging

I recently purchased an E71 and I am not able to recieve multimedia messages.

I have searched for this problem online, but it seems that others can neither send nor receive. I can send messages to others and to myself, and they all come through, but when others try to send messages to me, I don't get them.

All of my settings seem to be correct. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nokia Maps freezing up?

I'm on my second device and I'm having difficulties getting the Nokia Maps to function properly. I have yet to get the device to find my location without freezing up the device.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice or solutions?

T-Mobile settings?

I used the Wizard Setup and supposedly got the settings for T-Mo automatically configured to the phone. Yet I'm still having difficulties accessing the web consistently, as well as having internet provided to the GPS.

I set the default access point to "T-Zones" after "T-Mobile Internet" didn't work. But even T-Zones is providing inconsistent web access.

Anybody else having this problem? Has anyone come up with any solutions?

Any advice is very welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

Change default firmware?

I just got me E71 (don't get my started about how awesome it is). Unfortunately, I am on AT&T which so far my settings work fine for (data/phone). But, the darn thing came with Orange firmare which includes some annoying things I can't seem to get rid of. A hard reset just resets me to the default settings and same Orange stuff.

Does any one know where/if/how I can flash the handset with some generic firmware or the at&t firmware (even though i don't think they support the handset yet)??

Thanks!! -jn

Wi-Fi (WLAN) and contact questions

I have been trying this device out for about a week now and I am very impressed. I do notice that the Wi-Fi tends to refresh quite a bit, is this normal?

Also, the Nokia contact manager doesn't seem to play nice with MS Outlook 2007. If I have no contacts on my phone, and I sync with Outlook, the contact manager says it has added records. Then I press the contacts key, and no contacts are found. I have to import contacts from my SIM card in order to see any contacts at first.

Any ideas or workarounds?

Thanks in advance! 😁

AT&T features/downloads available for this device?

Hello...I've been a CDMA (Sprint, Helio) user for about 9 years now. I'm considering switching to AT&T, and getting this phone. I have no experience with SIM cards, unlocked phones, etc...so forgive the novice questions. But, can downloaded Ringers and Answer Rings/Call Tones (music people hear when calling you - not sure what AT&T calls this) from AT&T be used with this phone? Are there any services/features that AT&T offers it's users that CANNOT be used with this phone?

I haven't been a big fan of PDA style phones. I've preferred the full featured phones/dumbphones instead. Mainly because I prefer an OS that doesn't remind me of my computer. A former coworker showed me his Nokia E61 a couple years ago...and I always thought that if I ...

Earpiece static when I speak

☚ī¸
With each spoken word I can here a short burst of static in the earpiece. No static when the other party is speaking. An otherwise fine device but this is quite distracting when I am talking. I have the earpiece volume 3/4 of the way up.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Which data plan?

I recently purchased the E71(US Version) that will work on the AT&T's 3G network. I already have the $15.00 unlimited data plan. If I plan to access the 3G network, do I need a new plan since although they have no idea what phone I am using. Thank you!

This is a GREAT Phone!

Just purchased the gray steel unlocked version of this E71 from Best Buy a few days ago. I am SO IMPRESSED with the performance of this phone so far! 🤤 It was expensive ($500 w/ tax), but I got tired of waiting for the Blackberry Bold and now I am skeptical if the Bold will even work right on AT&T's 3G network. 🤨 After hearing the Bold would sell for $300+ with a 2yr contract, I decided the $500 wasn't that bad if you plan to keep it for more than a year (which I do). This phone is well constructed of quality materials and its made in Finland, not China! Way to go Nokia! You guys are my heros for not building this in China like everything else.

The Symbian OS is different from Windows or BB OS but it is very fast and does...

To anyone who actually OWNS the phone...

I've seen conflicting information on various websites regarding the video capabilities of this device. On here and Nokia's website, it says it maxes out at VGA 22 fps. On gsmarena and boygeniousreport, they both indicate that it maxes out at QVGA with 15 fps.

Now, it would seem to me that Nokia's website should be the most accurate, but I have come to trust gsmarena and boygeniousreport over the past year or two as they seem to be pretty accurate.

Can anyone who actually owns the phone confirm what the maximum video recording resolution is?

Thank you.

E71 set up with AT&T

I bought this phone (E71-2) not to long ago and I am having some trouble setting it up with my carrier AT&T. I think I might have set it up wrong from the beginning. Trying to get on the web or opening my two emails accounts, the phone will lag. This phone is amazing from the look of it to how it feels in my hands but the slow internet is starting to drive me nuts. Can someone who knows how to set up the phone with AT&T from the beginning, please help me out? It would be gratefully appreciated.

E71 vs E90?

I'm debating on which phone I should get.
Have any of you owned both and have a preference for one?

any ideas?

VoIP?

I can't remember which review it was that I read, but I seem to recall someone saying that this phone has VoIP in addition to WLAN.

Can anyone verify if this is correct?

over in the "Review: Nokia E71" discussion:

Camera Autofocus/Fixed focus error

The reviewer said:

"Pressing the center of the D-pad autofocuses and snaps pictures almost instantaneously. The E71 has one of the fastest autofocus features we've ever tested. Pictures are taken in just a fraction of a second after pressing the shutter button, even if the camera needs to fire the flash."

The reason they think the E71 is focusing so fast is because it is not. If you just click the D-pad it does not use the autofocus feature.

To use autofocus you need to hit the "t" button located right under the D-pad, and then after it is focused you hit the D-pad to take the shot.

...plus those pictures taken look horrible (but since they didn't use the autofocus that would be part of the issue)

Video Playback and DVD Import Help

What is the best program to use to put dvd's on this phone, granted the screen is already in landscape mode shouldnt make a difference cause thats how the playback is in all nokia phones whether it reorients it or not, but the screen size is 2.36" instead of 2.4" on this phone....

DVD Catalyst still a good one? they dont really have a drop down menu for symbian phones. Any freeware to get the job done?
