data

my biggest conern with the new iPhone is the whole staying in a wi-fi zone. When i had an iphone i was going crazy that i had to be in a wi-fi to get the speed i need to use the web. i was paying a grip on my bill and depended the nearest apple store or caribou to snag a network. I feel that the new one could be pointless and you might as well have an ipod touch, it's the same thing except no phone and speaker for music. Unless somebody out there can prove me wrong i'm all ears. I love the concept of the iphone and it's over all capabilities, i just can't stand it's web. 😛

Goodbye Voyager, Hello iphone!

Tv on a cell is a must for me. VZW's Mobile tv is nice and all but Slingbox is coming to the iphone 🤤

Safari > Voyager's HTML hands down, even slow 2g safari better than 3g voyager html

No video capture on the iphone 👿 Why? Thats just dumb. Voyager definitely wins there.

No MMS 👿 Again dumb blah blah blah about the e-mail thing i know but its still just dumb not to include MMS. Voyager +1. P.S. I actually do send and recive quite abit of MMS.

Apps Store 🤤 OMFG! I know you can hack the iphone and all but over the air downloads of third party apps? Can it get any simpler and efficient? No jailbreaking, no techno nerd stuff. GIN is nice but verizon sure knows how to take the fun outa apps, everything on...

3G iPhone as modem or PAN for Laptop

Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not the new iPhone will be able to be used to supply Internet access to a laptop (either as a modem, via Personal Area Network setup, etc.)? Thanks.

Iphone 1 and 3G question

So my dilema is this... I am moving to an area that is not in the 3G map according to ATT. My friend has the first Iphone but lives in a 3G area. My question is this... If I buy the first Iphone off him for 199 will the only feature I miss is the GPS? Also will I get to pay for the old data package or have to pay the extra 10 dollars. I want a 3G but if the only feature I am going to miss is GPS and I can pay less makes more sense to me to get the old one for less since there is going to be a firmware update... any thoughts???? 😕

Easy keyboard?

I am considering a new iPhone but dont know if it has a good onscreen keyboard. For those who own an iPhone, is it better than a BB Curve? (in keyboard layout)

MMS - Firmware upgradable?

Okay, so I was seriously considering the new iPhone, that is until they came out and STILL do not offer mms, which is something I use quite regularly. Since it doesn't I will most likely not be going with the iPhone. However, does anyone know if this is a feature that can be added by firmware/software updates that Apple releases on occasion? of is it a hardware thing?

Any information is appreciated, thanks in advance...

Missing features list.

For the sake of completeness and avoiding a million "does it have this?" threads I thought we could use a consolidated list of the things the 3g iphone won't have.

A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth)
Voice Dialing
MMS
microSD or other removable/expandable memory
Flash

Also I didn't see anything about the battery issue. Will this version allow end users to replace the battery themselves?

If I missed anything or you have other info please post here.

ATT vs VZW

I have had an iPhone since Jan '08. Love the phone, however the network SUCKS. I am in New Jersey mostly and I have lost more calls and get more 'errors' that I ever got with VZW. Not the phone because I had the same problem with my Nokia N75. All around the Trenton area (major city) I have this problem. Think its time to jump back to VZW. Waiting to check out new BB Thunder, full touch and all the goodies the iPhone is missing. Don't know how good the BB voice dial is. I am using the att voice command now and it works better than anything else I have ever used.

Version 1 iPhone

I wonder if I activate an old iPhone today or before 3G comes out, do I pay the old data prices and will my data plan price increase after that?

Also, I am wondering if you will be able to activate old iPhone's thru iTunes after 7/11?

billing question

so this iphone 3g looks pretty awesome and im selling my ipod touch to buy one of these. i gotta few questions though...

first, im on a family plan right now as the secondary line (3 lines total). nobody else in the family has or is going to get an iphone. I saw that the cheapest data package doesnt include texting. we have unlimited messaging for families on our account. when i upgrade to the iphone 3g can i just get the basic data package and continue to benefit from the unlimited texting for families plan? or do i have to get an iphone 3g data package that has the unlimited messaging. its important that i retain the unlimited message for families because all of the lines on our account text like mad.

also im still in a contract with...

so what does this mean for 2G users.

Ive had the 2G since the day after i came out and im more than happy with my phone. being in the industry though, i know the benefit of moving to 3G. will 2G user apps and things of that nature slow down? will there be any incentive for 2G users to move to the 3G, thats an awful lot of money just to switch phones when i have a perfectly good 2G
