HELP! Need to unlock phone

Hi Guys,

Ok I need some help and clarification. I am traveling out of the country in a few days - UK and the middle east. I wanted to take my phone and use the GSM capabilities and a third party SIM card.

When I called Verizon customer service representative she told me that the only way I could do this was by purchasing their SIM card and then they would have to unlock my phone. But I would still need to use their SIM card.

I thought they could provide me with an unlock code based on my serial number? But I guess upon quick review of this forum I noticed that you need a SIM card (any SIM not just international) in the phone which will then prompt for an unlock code. Shouldn't they provide me with that code?

Lastly, if all of ...

Sound level

How many of you find this phone to be adquate in terms of the sound level, and how many find it a touch to quiet at its loudest level?

PC connectivity

I would like to connect the phone to my PC and backup the address book and calendar. The only way I know of is to pay Verizon a monthly fee which I am opposed to. If you know of a way to sync or connect to a PC, please let me know. I have checked with Motorola and they do not have software/cable to do it. Hope you can help. I have checked with DataPilot and they have not developed support for the Z6c yet.

Micro to Mini USB adapters available?

Anyone know if Verizon or another accessory store might have adapters available so I can still use all my car chargers and travel chargers from my RAZR V3m with this new Z6c??
I'd hate to spend money to get new chargers.

I leave a wall charger at home plugged in and then have an extra one for travel that stays in my travel bag. Same with car chargers. I got about 3, HAHAHA. Keep forgetting to bring them, so they are spread out in different vehicles.

Would be nice to just buy adapters instead of all the accessories.

If any of you can help or have ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Vibrate then ring?

I am considering this phone to replace my Moto A840. From what I have heard, there is no way to set vibrate then ring for incoming calls. Is this true or has anyone actually been able to set their phone to this mode?

Thanks!

Let's Here Some New Reviews from VZW Customers

Ok fellow VZW customers ... VZW has offered this phone for a couple weeks now. Let's hear some more reviews! I'm especially interested in those who travel overseas often. I'm getting tired of my old Samsung A790 Worldphone and I'm considering purchasing this phone. Let's hear some more pros and cons. How's the sound, battery life, camera, speakerphone, Bluetooth, etc? How is the functionality? I'm particularily interested if we finally have a CDMA/GSM phone that recognizes which country you're in for outgoing calls, and adds the proper country code prefix to numbers within your phonebook with the "+" prefix? Etc.

SIM card use?

Hello, I was wondering if I would be able to use a Celcom Malaysia SIM pre paid in this phone when I travel in Malaysia? Is it easy as just swapping out the SIM? Thanks!

GSM Mode-time and Unlock code

I recently was in the United Kingdom and used my phone. It worked fine except it had trouble with the correct time. Does anyone know how this can be fixed?

Also how do you get an unlock code from Verizon for a prepaid sim from t-Mobile? I will be going back this summer for a longer period of time and Verizons cost is way to high to use for that extended period.

Will Dual Band for GSM work?

Ok, I just notice that the z6c is only dual band GSM 900/1800, while most other GSM phones are tri or Quad bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900. Also, I looked into getting an international prepaid sim card but they all require quad band unlocked GSM phones!!! So will it not work with the z6c?

better way to do a smiley face?

either with iTap or Abc mode, what's the quickest way to do a standard smiley face (colon + right parenthese). it seems like the i have to go to the option > symbols > next next before I can do a right parenthese... there's gotta be a better/faster way.

Z6c Custom Ringtones / Backgrounds (General PC Connections)

I just got this phone on Verizon after being with ATT for 4 years. On ATT I got used to connecting my Motorola phones with my computer and transferring audio and image files back and forth with MPT. I know this is much more difficult with Verizon/CDMA, but are there any ways to do this? Thanks a lot.

some minor issues, should i swap?

Ok, I took the plunge and got the z6c.

I really like the look and feel of the phone, but have some minor grips with it. Just wanted to see if others are having the same issues... and whether if exchanging for another one would be worthwhile.

1) sometimes the ringer doesn't right; for a brief period of time last night, when the volume was set on max, all incoming calls did not cause the ringer to ring. vibrate was working... after poweroff, remove and reset the battery, poweron... it seems to be working now... I HOPE THIS was just a one time glitch.

2) the right "contact" button (above the CLR button) makes a creaking sound when depressing it. hard to explain this but it just doesn't sound or feel like the left "message" button.

Battery No Good?!

So I got rid of the horrible original LG chocolate vx8500 - another LG phone with bad battery life. Was never able to use any of its features without the battery sucking to death. I got the Moto z6c mostly because all the specs said at least 4.5 hours of talk time. I have not been even close! After first charge I made 0 calls a few texts and the next day it was down to 1 bar. After second charge it lasted longer but maybe 3 hours of talk time. Anybody else have issues with the battery? Or is it just my awesome luck with cell phones?

z6cx

In case anyone is interested, I just saw on Verizon's website that Verizon just released the new z6cx, which is evidently the same as the z6c except that it lacks a camera.

Z6c Unlocked & in GSM mode image

Here's an image of my Z6c Unlocked in GSM mode while I was in Hungary last week. I got the unlock code from Verizon's worldwide service, and they gave it to me. it was easy to input, and worked perfectly over seas. Only problem was that I couldn't check how much money was remaining on my pre-paid SIM like I should have been able to. Whatever reason the phone doesn't have that capability.

Here's the image of the phone in GSM mode with a Hugnarian T-Mobile SIM in it:
