PALM IS DEAD!

The Centro is the Treo 650, which came out back in 2004. It only has a very minor update in the form of a little bit more memory. Other then that, it is the same faulty piece of trash as every other Treo.
It's insane that Palm is still around. Look at the specs of every Treo since the 650. Notice anything? ALL THE SPECS ARE THE SAME! Palm coned customers into thinking the new Treo's were updated, when in fact they were not. What they do is release a phone like the 600, with a low res screen. Then release the 650, with a high res screen. They have used this tactic over and over again. Check out Palm's web site. Even the mods in their forum are fed up with Palm.

If you are thinking about wasting your money on a Treo or Centro, DON'T! You w...

It's coming to Verizon and I have a question.

See the announcement at Phonescoop.com. Centro will be available on Verizon 6-13!!!

Here's my question for those of you who have been using the device. Can you get push email or the equivalent on it? If it doesn't push email, can you at least set it such that it goes to check your email at intervals you can set? Will it work with POP3 accounts?

Thanks for your input.

Head phone issues

I've been having a problem using the headphones to listen to music. I can only get sound out of the right channel. These are regular wired headphones that came with my Samsung A900. Could this be the problem? Should I get a set that doesn't have the microphone built in?

Activesync will not connect

I need some help. We have 2 users who recently bought Centro's. We can't get it to connect to exchange activesync. We have windows mobile users connecting fine, but no matter what we try, we can't get the centro's to connect. Palm support was useless. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Haters

I don't see why all you nerds are hating on this phone. It does everything a 755p will do, plus it has little minor upgrades like ptunes deluxe and docs 10. So what if you can't get it to quad boot with 4 operating systems. Palm never said, "hey look at our latest model phone...its an upgrade." Maybe that's why it has the model number 690. Quit hating on this phone because you got ripped off by buying your 755. Sure the 755 has sturdier parts but NO phone was meant to be so durable that if its dropped of a table or something it comes away without a scratch. Also, I don't get Sprint's pricing. For $80, and two year contract, you can get an LG rumor...for $99, you can get the centro...HELLO? what kind of contest is that?

Verdict is in: PEOPLE LOVE IT

My store doesn't even have a display for it yet, we started selling it yesterday and we've sold at least 12!
I didn't think there would be this many people asking for the phone, but people come in, they ask for it, and they buy it. Period. Looks like Palm might have a winner after all!

Battery Life?

Just out of curiosity was wondering how often everyone has to charge their centro? Ive had mine for 5 days and Ive had to charge it everyday and one day twice just to be safe so it didnt die on my on the road.

I dont even use the phone that much except for the test messaging. I texted like crazy on my other phones and never had such poor battery life.

However this is my first smart phone so maybe its just something that happens to all smart phones and Im not used to it?

Possibly interested in the Centro... curious about battery life, music and games

The Centro is honestly way overkill for what I want in a phone, but then again, the price isn't bad at all, it is fairly small (a small phone is the biggest consideration for me).

Whatever phone I get, I will NOT be wasting my money on a data plan. Does that negate like 90% of the purpose of a phone like this? Does this phone support Wi-Fi and if so, it is pointless without a dataplan or can you still jump online if you have WiFi access?

Can I install games on it through a USB cable? Are there any good ones that will run?

How bad is the battery life is you mainly use it for talking (and not a ton of talking either). I could go days and days without charging my old phone.

Is it a decent enough music player? I was tempted with...

Is there a "back" button?

Ok, just upgraded my plan and got the Centro a few days ago. So far so good. The keyboard will take some getting used to but love the touch screen. My biggest problem and question is....is there a BACK button on this phone? Before this I had a Blackberry Curve and I loved it. The only thing the Centro has over it is the touchscreen. There was also a huge "back" button on the curve and most other phones that I can't seem to locate on the Centro. I hate navigating around, as I'm trying to get used to where everything is and I can't go back to the previous screen without hitting one of the direct link buttons. I've looked in the manual and can't find anything. HELP??? Also, I have a red one and it looks a bit "pre-pay-ish". I was thinking about...

8gb memory card question

I ordered a Centro from Sprint over the weekend and expect it to be here tomorrow. I'm pretty pumped 😛 My Sony Ericsson turned out to be very disappointing and I spent a lot of money on it.

Anyway I've been reading about people using 6 and 8gb memory cards in their Centro and the only problem is that the Centro can't accurately report the free and total memory on the card. I need to buy a card and have a few questions about this.

1. Can the files that occupy the unaccounted for file space on the memory card be deleted in the phone's file manger?

2. How fast does pTunes access the content on a full 8gb memory card? How does this compare to a full 4gb card?

3. Can you recommend a 6 or 8gb memory card?

Thanks

HELP - Water Damage - Center button doesnt work

I got the Palm Centro when it first came out in mid September 2007 and I was at a restaurant and placed my phone on a table. A little bit of water got into it and now the center and down button dont work. Since I dont have insurance, sprint says my only option is to buy a new phone. Can anyone advise? I am not in the mood to spend $400 on a new phone.

Phone Powering off

I had a black centro and waited for the pink centro to come in. And Im finding both of them power off and power right back on periodically. And I dont mean just the screen going on stand by. I mean fully powering off, my phone telling me goodbye, and losing all my connections to the internet. Has anyone else encountered this?

Voice dial

Does the Centro have just plain voice. I activated the voice command program [because of the free trial] and it doesn't seem to work for me at least. I also don't like the idea for paying for something monthy if I only plan on using it for voice dial. So I was just wondering if it does just plain voice dial?
