A question for those who own or sell this phone

I am really wanting this phone because i heard it is a great phone for business men like myself, i have a nokia 6086 right now and i want this for Wi-fi because i dont like pecking in emails on a flip phone. I am wondering though, i have that $5 add on T-mobile internet, i think its just called T-zones and i have used Opera on other phones for some reason it doesnt work on the 6086, but i heard that has something to do with a APN that i dont know how to change that.
Anyway i am wondering if i need anything more on this blackberry to search around on the internet? I hear there is some kind of option for Blackberry and Sidekick users that you need to get to use the internet on them which i believe costs $15- $20, seems like a hustle to me but...

voice caller id

Is there software for the curve on T Mobile that allows voice caller id? For example when a call comes in, the voice announces "call from 800-555-1212" or "call from John Smith cell"

"Uncaught Exception: Camera Viewfinder Inactive"

I got this message yesterday when I tried to use the camera to take a snap shot. The first time I tried the phone just froze up when it came up to the viewfinder screen (which was showing nothing but blackness).

I gave it another try and thats when I got the error message. Sometimes I've gotta take the battery out to get the phone to start working again. Ne ideas?

CURVE VIDEO CAPTURE UPGRADE??

I've read many websites that state there is an upgrade 4.3 or 4.5 of the Blackberry Curve OS that captures video. I also saw a YOUTUBE video clip of a Curve with a beta version of the software and it looked SWEET.

Anyone know of this? I called RIM and TWO techies said they knew nothing of a Curve or Pearl OS upgrade for video recording...............unless they were playing dumb.

mms retrieval errors

When I first purchased my blackberry curve, I did not sign up for the data plan. At that point, MMS messages came in, and sent out fine. Once I added the data plan, I now get a message saying i have a new MMS message, but it could not retrieve the content at that time. I am given the option of manually retrying, most of the time, this does not work, and never works for messages sent from non-BB devices.
I have been on the phone with Tmo tech support BB division, which has not helped.
We have already tried things from hard power cycling to removing services in my service book, and repopulating over the network.
Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Thanks

Is this a problem?

I have the BlackBerry Curve 8320, and I am paying for the BlackBerry Internet. When I switch on the wifi and connect, I am able to make and receive calls over the internet. I turned of the T-Mobile Network and just kept the Wi-Fi on, and I am still able to do it. I am not paying for Hotspot@Home. Will I be charged?

text message not working between ONLY two BBs...

This is a weird one, and Tech Support can't figure it out and wasted quite a lot of my time doing the "check list" diagnosis...

My buddy and I both have 8300 Curve BBs. We can send and receive text messages just fine, to our wives, friends, everyone... EXCEPT him and I. I can't send to him, he can't send to me. It doesn't give an error message, just goes to no mans land. I guess the fact is: we do not RECEIVE one another text messages that we send to one another (they sure get billed, so it's sent to some server) we just can't receive it.

Any idea??

Some pre-purchase questions

I had a few questions on the Curve, before I make the switch?

  • Is there a feature in the profiles which allows you to restrict which numbers ring verses sending to vmail (private). I make use of this on nights/weekends and don't want to have to turn the phone off to all (aka Groups for Nokia).

  • If you leave the Wi-Fi on, does it cause a major battery drain? If so, is there a quick switch to turn on/off?

  • When using the Wi-Fi and TMO @home, what rates do you get charged for International calling? This is the only reason I still have a land line.

    Thanks,
    Iain.

Please tell me it's different now

I have an 8700g, which I'm coming to like a lot (particularly thanks to the Google apps). But I have one major gripe: if you're cut off from the network, you're screwed. I was in the Sears Tower for a meeting yesterday, which you'd think would have decent coverage, but it doesn't. I wanted to pull up an e-mail and I could only get the very first part of it - since I had no network connection, I was dead in the water. My Dash (WM5) would pull down as many megabytes of data as it took to read the full message, including attachments, so I never had a problem. With my BB, I have to retrieve the same message many times because it doesn't retain any of the data. What a bad setup. I'm on BIS and version 4.2.1.107.

So does the 8320 have a better ...

Curve : Efficiency, Themes, & Apps

Hey all! I have been searching and haven't really found anything I like or need for the most part. I am looking for three things and these are in order of importance.

Efficiency: I am hoping to find an application or some kind of instructions for settings to make the Curve (8320 for me) more efficient in the way it runs. So far so good it runs much better than my previous smart phones ( wing and shadow). I just always feel things could be faster! I am just one of those people so if anyone knows of anything i could do to increase the efficiency of this device! Thanks

Applications: I am searching for applications that I may not know exist! It can be anything! I have found some interesting ones that I currently use but I would like to f...
