Terribly frustrating

the phone keeps powering down!! Got it 2 months ago and it worked fine for a few weeks then it started powering down when I shut it...
Now that I've read some of the other logs I wonder if the battery is dead even though it does not indicate a drained battery. At any rate I would not recommend it.
Oh, did I mention that I got (after a fight) a replacement and it does exactly the same thing.

Nokia 6555 Choppy call quality

Im having issues with my new 6555. When I talk to people, both on other cell phones or land lines they complain that my voice keeps chopping out and getting filled with artifacts. I went to bestbuy and they gave me another brand new phone but its doing the same thing. After calling ATT they claimed i needed a new sim card. I went and got a new sim card and its still doing it. Here I am with a new phone that supposed to be "awesome" and I love things on my end but no one wants to talk because of the poor quality on the other end.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is there a solution?

Phone colors (only finding in black locally)

Hi, wife is upgrading tomorrow and I will in couple weeks. Usually we get the same phone so can share a car charger and learn to program them together, etc but last phones had the faceplates we could change to differentiate the phones when laying on the same counter.

Question is about the colors of this phone. Nokia shows it in white, orange/reddish as well as black, but when wife was shopping they say can any color we want as long as it's black. I think locally (ATT store and Sams/Radio Shack at least) have lots of stock but both say black only. Anyone gotten the red or white yet at retail store, or have to order online somewhere??

Pros and cons

I've had my 6555 for about 2 weeks now and I really like it. I upgraded from a 6102i of which I've had 2, and those were my all-time favorites. All I really care about is good reception as I spend part of my year in the mountains of central Va. The 6102 was the only one that I could get reception with till now. I actually get reception with the 6555 too! Not great but most of the time just like the 6102i. The screen is very clear. You can set it to show a clock on the front when it's not in use so you don't have to press a button to see the time. It's got lots of memory for those fun ringtones. One complaint is that not all of AT&T's ringtones will work on this phone. Have no idea why. And trust me, you'll need to download some. The ones tha...

Outside Clock

Ok, so I've figured out how to set the outside display to constantly show the time. The only problem is that its in military time, and I've looked at every time setting I can find in the phone and they are all set for 12hr am/pm time. Any ideas?

Voice Dialing

I just got this phone for my mother and I was wondering if anybody knows how to change the prerecorded voice tags. She uses the voice dialing a lot and the tags that are automatically with the phone are horrible. Any help would be appriciated.

3G

I bought this phone on Sunday and every day the battery dies. The phone talk time is only approx 2hrs!! Can someone tell me how the heck to turn off the 3G so I can make calls and not worry about the battery always needing a charge? Also, has anyone noticed the tone when another call is comming in, it is too quiet. Any way to increase volume?

Horrible battery life

I heard that the battery life wasn't great on this phone, but my son really wanted it (mostly for styling, but partially for the music player - he's 11). We bought it exactly 1 week ago today and have had to charge it 4 times and his talk time is just over 7 minutes for the entire week! He hasn't used it for music yet (the MicroSD is still on the way from buy.com) and we have spent just a little bit of time in the menus getting things setup. This thing may be going back if we can't find a way to get more battery life out of it!

Any other real world usage reports out there?

Comparing this (Nokia 6555) to LG CU 515 model...

Hey all, time for the 2 yr upgrade and heading to the store tomorrow. Comparing this to LG new(er) model 515, little thinner but wider from what understand. Anyone had the LG to compare yet? Reason looking at both of these is we may try the Push-to-talk (PTT) feature within our family plan soon and both show that feature. Then even if we don't use it they both seem like quaility phones with good reviews so far.

Was offered either for same price $50 after rebates for 2 yr upgrage time, so seems like just need to pick one.

Thanks!

call quality problems?

I just got this phone. On my end, call quality is excellent, but people I talk to complain that my voice has a digital sound, and they have a hard time understanding me. I exchanged the first phone and am still having the same problem with the second one. I turned off active standby because I thought it was using too much power and may affect calls, but it still happens. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

disable 3G?

Is there a way to put the phone in 2G mode only like on the LG's? That would greatly increase battery life I believe. I really like the phone except for the poor battery life. If anyone has any idea how this could be done or where I could find how to do this, please let me know! Thanks!

A few questions about an unlocked 6555

I'm on T-Mobile and thinking of getting an unlocked Nokia 6555. The silver one looks very nice. Before I spend that much money, however, there's a few things I'd like to know. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

1. Will the 3G capability of this phone possibly work on T-Mobile's network when they get 3G? If you don't know, why don't you? Should I wait until T-Mobile gets 3G before buying a 3G phone to make sure it'll work?

2. What features and services would or wouldn't work with an unlocked AT&T phone?

3. Is there anything that I should know before activating an unlocked AT&T phone on T-Mobile's network?

Again, any answers would be awesome.

Battery - software issue?

Is it likely that the terrible battery life will be fixed with a flash update to the software?

disable PTT?

Is there a way to disable this button? It just gets in the way if you don't use PTT!
