over in the "Video Tour: Samsung FlipShot" discussion:

This sorry excuse for a phone is no different than my LG VX8700

😈 Verizon just doesn't get it...WE DONT CARE FOR YOUR RETARDED USER INTERFACE OR YOUR CHEAP ASS PHONES!! Get rid of the "PAY-US-NOW" system. Be a cool phone company.

The phones are so cheap...you guys should take a page or 20 from Sprint and Nextel. Get good durable phones with buttons you can actually press and speakers that don't sound like ****. We're taking all 5 of our numbers to Sprint after our contract is up with Verizon. I can't stand feeling like I'm being suffocated by my carrier. I cant do this and I can't do that. I have to buy this to use that. I cant even send pictures to my phone or ringtones I made on my computer because VERIZON is so damn GREEDY! Also...your service sucks balls. ANYONE THINKING OF GETTING VERIZ...

text messages

I use word all the time, but sometimes my phone just stops and won't let me finish a word or correct it! Any suggestions? My old phone also finished words for me, that is not enabled and is the only way for you to teach it a work is to switch over to Abc and type it in?
Also, how do I get rid of all the crap when I recieve a message? I want just the message, not all the callback numbers, time, etc.
Thanks!

T9 Can Learn Words

Just thought I'd share...T9 can actually learn words on the Flipshot 😁 . I randomly stumbled upon this today. If you have a word that isn't in the dictionary...type it in using ABC and then go back to T9 mode. The next time you need to use that word, start entering a few letters at a time and then just hit the next key...it will scroll through all possible words including your 'new' word... Now, I REALLY love this phone!

Can you read messages on the outside display?

On the old versions of this phone (sch-a990, 970) can do that. If so how?
Thanks.

Software Available???

So... I'm looking at this phone as an upgrade if I switch to Verizon since my current AT&T contract is up. I like the camera feature and the music player. But I am wondering what kind of software might be available for syncing this phone with my computer. According to VZW's salesman, the USB cable, along with any software that VZW has anything to do with, is only used to transfer contacts, music and pictures back and forth between phone and PC. But I currently have a Razr and I have been using some software from Avanquest for years now to sync my contacts and calendar with my Outlook, transfer pictues, make ring tones... and this is the big one... send text messages through the phone from my computer when I type them in on my PC's keybo...

Data cable & BitPim problem... Can anyone help yet?

Well - I received my USB charging/data cable today and have been trying to connect to the U900 via BitPim - to no avail.... Even though the U900 is not on the list I was hoping to be able to connect using the "File system" method that I had to use for my A970. But needless to say - I could not connect to it. If anyone figures this out - please let me know - I would love to be able to make and download my own ringtones to this phone using BitPim instead of GIN.

I hope we can get this figured out... Thanks in advance.

Sync with PC

I know this phone doesn't have PC sync but it is a USB phone. I would like to transfer my Outlook calender to my phone to get reminders about appointments. Can this be done with this phone?

Lens Cover??

Being a phone carrier in the pocket person, I would fear carrying this phone around like I normally do cause of dust build up. Can anyone confirm if there is a lens cover built into the lens?

Samsung Durability

I've never owned a Samsung phone before, but I've tried them out in stores.

One thing that concerns me about their phones is the durability. Samsung makes great phones that are very thin and sleek, but it seems that with that thinness comes a weaker and flimsier hinge. Any thoughts on this?

Other than that, this phone seems great, especially since I don't own a digital camera. How's the camera quality, by the way?

Not bad at all (overall)

This is a pretty good phone - I must say. I am up-grading from the SCH-A970, so this is quite a bit of an upgrade - phone and camera. There are a couple of things that I can see as possible problems... For one - I can forsee both the inside and outside screens becoming scratched very easy. With that being said - I took an idea from my old V-710 and used crystal clear tape to cover both screens. Once that gets scratched - simpley peel off and replace. The think I was not to happy about was the flimsy back cover that has to be removed to access the battery, and more importantly the memory card. It is made of VERY thin plastic. They could have beefed it up a little. The camera is AMAZING - when compared to my A970 that is. the front to...

More questions for robtheman (backup assistant, lock button)

You seem to be the man with this phone. I have a few questions:

1. Does backup assistant work on this phone?
2. Does it have a dedicated button to lock the phone (for example, pressing the # key)?
3. Did you have a chance to learn new words through T9?

Thanks

questions for robtheman

robtheman,

First off, you are the man if your name is Rob. I'm hoping your screenname is not referring to thievery.

More importantly, I am very close to buying this phone online, but had a few quick ?'s first.

1) Are the arrow keys on the D-pad customizable? It doesn't look like they have icons on the phone, and it'd be nice if they were.

2) The phone doesn't open straight up does it? i.e. is there an angle in the phone when flipped open...Im hoping so.

3) Any verdict on the T9 learning words?

4)Speakerphone. You mentioned its awesome. Can it be left on all the time, or does it auto shut off? Can you use speakerphone with the phone closed?

Thanks in advance for your input and answers on the FlipShot...

Has anyone actually used the phone?

Looking at this and the Moto v9m. Like the look of the better camera, but in the end want something that will be an all around good performer.

Appreciate any hands-on experience.
