Beeps

1- When setting ringers, what does the NUMBER OF BEEPS refer to?

2- Anyway to get a junk mail filter on this phone?

3- A lot of my email, I notice, is loaded with html that just makes reading it on a blackberry very difficult and annoying. Anyway to just make it all text?

Thanks

8703e as a modem

Does the 8703e work well as a modem? If so what kind of speed are you getting? What does Verizons wireless unlimited cost?

Is it the same as the National broadband?

Broadband internet access speed

I am currently on T-Mobile but am thinking of switching to Verizon if the internet access speeds are significantly better (yes I know I will have to purchase a new phone).

I am in the broadband access area (southern California). What is the access speed and how much do you pay for unlimited?

Thanks

8703 vs Palm Treo 700w

I'm a long time Treo user that is totally fed up with the bugginess and slow response of the Treo 700w. I like functionality, but it is just way too frustrating. Can anyone comment on transition from Treo 700w to BB870

VZW Mainscreen banner

First blackberry here:
How do I get rid of the banner (or at least minimize it)? You know... one with the day, date, time, connection and battery info, etc...
It takes up about 1/3 of the screen on the main page and I just want it to be transparent or gone. Whats the point of having a picture in the background if you can't see it?
Anyway, sorry if this is a dumb question, I just haven't figured it out yet and I can usually figure this stuff out right away.

Picking Up Background Noise on the 8703e

Has anybody experienced callers on the receiving end hearing alot of background noise? If I am driving and my music is on, my wife has said it very loud, when it is really low on the inside of my car. I had another person tell me today that they could barely hear me because of people talking near me. 😳 Thanks

BlackBerry 7130e or BlackBerry 8703e ???

I am planning to go with the BlackBerry but not sure which one to get. Motorola Q isn’t good based on the review I read here. Anyone can recommend what to choose between BlackBerry 7130e and BlackBerry 8703e. I am talking about Verizon service. Thank you.

Can you view PDF's on the 8703?

I am thinking about switching from my WM5 XV6700 to the blackberry because it is constantly screwing up. I must; however, be able to view PDF attachments. Is this possible on the 8703? Also, with only 64mb of internal memory and no expansion, it doesn't seem like you could have too many email attachments.

Specific BlackBerry e-mail question...

Hi all, Happy New Year.

I am in the process of doing some smart phone research before I make the plunge into the world of BlackBerries and Treos, and I've got a question:

I typically use Outlook on my laptop to send and retrieve e-mails. In Outlook, there are many actions that can be taken when receiving messages from various recipients. For example, when I receive a message from an important client, Outlook gives a distinctive ring, and then these messages are placed in a specific folder. All other e-mails have the standard ring – or, if I like, I can opt to turn off the ringer altogether. This way I know when important messages arrive and when there is junk. ** Can you do the same with the e-mail on the BlackBerry? Is there a ...

Change Signature from "sent from my verizon wireless blackberry"???

Please tell me there is some way to change this to your own signature...it's annoying enough that it would cause me to return it.

Or, is there a way to just setup a freakin pop account on it to go straight to the mail server?

Thanks,

Scott

AOL Instant Messenger for BB 8703?

Does anyone have information for how to use AOL IM on this BB? Is there an application out there? Currently I have IM's forwarded to the my number and they come in thru e-mail interface...the challenge is not having the Buddy list intergrated to chat real-time with folks in my office for work. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

BlackBerry 8703e vs BlackBerry 8700 Series

I'd like to hear from everyone on which BB device they prefer and why. Overall I want to stick with my 8703e, but I question the reliability of VZW's network when it comes to email and sms. Believe it or not, T-Mobile has been the fastest I've seen in the email&sms department. I've had a T-Mobile 8700g and the 8703e on my desk, sent an email to both simultaneously and the 8700g gets the email before my hand leaves the keyboard or mouse.

Email response with TMO=instant

Email response with VZW=10 seconds to 24 minutes

Email response with Cingular...30 seconds...1 to 7 hours or tomorrow (I'm not kidding)

Email response with Sprint; I have not tested Sprint's email, but their SMS is equivalent to MetroPCS. I wasn't going to mention...

Differences?

I've never owned a BB, right now I have a Q and I love it. But, I like changing phones.... so could you BB users tell me what the differences are between this one and the 7130e besides this one being newer and it looks a little larger.

Thanks!

Anyway to autolock the keypad/wheel after X time of no use?

I'm the type that the phone is constantly in and out of my pocket, thus having the scroll wheel or buttons accepting commands is a bad thing.

On previous phones I've owned I was always able to set them to lock everything after 10 seconds or so, or they had a button I could push to lock it. With this 8703e there doesn't appear to be something that easy to do?

I know I can scroll through the menu and hit the lock button, but for constant use, in and out of my pocket all the time etc it's a real pain in the butt to have to scroll to hit that every time; plus I'm using a "today screen" type add on with it so I have to exit that, scroll to the lock and click. There's gotta be a better way to have it automatically lock or be able bind a ke...

Light screen when call comes in?

I have only had the 8703e for a couple of days now. I have checked the forum and don't think this has been mentioned yet - apologies if it has!

I'm wondering if any of you know how to set the phone so that the screen lights up - and I can see who's calling - when it rings?

Thanks!
