Nokia Says No N9 for the U.S.

Aug 9, 2011, 11:06 AM   by Eric M. Zeman

Nokia has confirmed that the N9 handset will not initially be made available to U.S. buyers. In a statement emailed to Engadget, Nokia said, "After the very positive reception to the launch of the Nokia N9, the product is now being rolled out in countries around the world. At this time we will not be making it available in the US. Nokia takes a market by market approach to product rollout, and each country makes its own decisions about which products to introduce from those available." The N9 is the first phone that will ship with Nokia's MeeGo platform rather than Symbian. Nokia does not plan to make any more MeeGo handsets.
