So, speculation is that there will be a new device launched with IOS 5. Essentially an Iphone4 with the Ipad2 processer and graphics chip. Any thoughts? Is the Ipad 2's processor that much faster than the Ipads? I'm debating holding out till September or just going for the Iphone 4 today.

you can either pay $199 for the iPhone 4 right now, or pay $199 for the next iPhone when it comes out in a few months. will the next iPhone be brand new? yes. Will it have any ground-breaking features that you will absolutely HAVE TO HAVE??? i doubt it! it will have a faster processor, probably NFC, and assumedly a better camera, probably about it.

I know the features won't change from the 4 to the "4Gs" much as they'll both use IOS5 when it launches. I was just curious if the hardware upgrade made it worth the wait.

The processor is a lot faster. It is dual core versus single core, clocked a little bit faster... bigger difference is the GPU, it has 8x the processing capacity, and is about 4x faster in the real world.
On top of that, the new processor and GPU, despite being faster etc., use less power.

When they announced the iPad 2, these were the specs..the iPhone is rumored to receive the very same components..

Not so much "rumored" as the iPhone 4 got better specs than the iPad 1, so it would make sense for the iPhone 5 to get the same or better.
As well, iOS5 has code that shows the iPhone5 having the same processor as the iPad2.
