I just paid for and downloaded several software applications from Handango for my Blackberry Pearl. I try to install the software using the Blackberry Desktop Manager Applicatio Loader but when I get to the point where I add the software I get this error:

No additional applications designed for your device were found

Blackberry Help says:

This message appears if you try to add an application that is not compatible with your device or is already on your device.

This can't be right because I read the reviews for the software and there are people using my identical phone that love the software. Also I downloaded at least 8 programs and every one of them generates the same error.

Handango says:

I had this issue with the desktop app loader as well. I ended up having to download the BB 4.2.2 OS to my computer and update my phone via the desktop manager. I think Pinstack.com had some instructions on how to do it. Once I did this, it worked fine. If you continue to have trouble, let me know and I'll see if I can find the link for you.

I tried downloading 4.2.2 of desktop software and still getting the same errors. Who is your carrier? I have Verizon. I am wondering if Verizon does something to block downloading software.

I have AT&T. It sounds like the desktop manager isn't qualifying programs correctly. Once you downloaded the 4.2.2, did you load it onto your phone? I think I had to update my phone first. Once done it started reading programs.

Are you saying that when you go to an older version of the blackberry desktop software that you have to change the software in the phone as well? If so, how do you do that? I haven't seen anything that says anything about changing the software in the phone itself because as I understand the only way to get software on or off the phone is with the Blackberry Desktop.

What I'm saying is that when you have the desktop software on your CPU. In order for it to know what software you have on your phone you will have to download it to the CPU. It sounds odd but it works. I have an 8310. It uses 4.2.2, so I downloaded 4.2.2 to my CPU.

and follow the instructions. It works.
