I am considering purchasing a blackberry bold. I was at the ATT store yesterday and was told that the current batch of phones being sold have hardware problems which is causing calls to not connect or to have calls dropped. Has anyone heard about this?
Are there any problems related to memory and applications running on this phone?
The problems are not really hardware related, but software. I had reception problems with mine and it jumped back and forth between Edge and 3G. Mine also dropped calls badly too. There is an update for the software that you can download that has solved all of these problems for me. All you have to do is go to Settings (the picture of the wrench in the menu, then Advanced options, then Wireless Update. Follow the instructions on the screen and it takes form 45-90 minutes (depending on the signal you are receiving on the phone.)
It is well worth the time to do this upgrade. Not only does it solve the reception problems, but gives you the opportunity to turn off 3G and only use Edge if you are in a fringe area or an area with no 3G. Anothe... (continues)
I would have to agree with phoneman get an update. I have not had any such problem in the ten days of owning a 9700. Os version 220.127.116.110, On tmobile hand set. Everything has worked properly. Have downloaded an ran 10 plus apps from bb app world. Also runs opera mini no problem. Great phone and wow fast over wifi.
