BB Curve as a PDA, no email/data/etc?

VZW told me, both via an internet chat with a rep and at a retail store, that they cannot put a data block on a blackberry device line, but they can on a windows mobile phone line. While it may seem odd to want a blackberry with out the data package, that is where I find myself right now. I am in serious need of some time/tasks/information management help. Having used two palm pilots, a treo 650, and one ipaq, I am ready to try a blackberry. Right now, though I am already spending a little over $200/mo for cellular service for my family, and I just don't want to spend any, or very much, more each month.

Initially I thought I would add a line with a BB curve and just get the data blocked. As mentioned above, VZW says this can't be d...

Hm, it may be apples to oranges, but with AT&T the blackberry's internet will simply not operate without the Blackberry plan. That means if you chose to not get the package, the internet is blocked by default. You don't have to add a wixblock, because the payper use will simply not work.

it automatically propigates the feature when you put a BB on a line... so it can't be done without data.

Have you tried a WM product that isn't a palm, such as i760 or the xv6800?

BB are great devices but the internet is expensive on it. Buying a GSM BB off Ebay works better than one for CDMA. Because all you do is put in the
SIM card and nobody knows.

I researched this alot and turns out the agreement that VZW has with RIM on the blackberry's is setup in such a way that if VZW sells a blackberry without a data package they are in breach of the agreement and therefore will not do it. This is why they have there system setup in such a way it does it automatically.

As for the Blackberry plan being more expensive its not. The unlimited data is $29.99. The one your thinking of is $44.99 all that that does that the $29.99 is corporate email. If you have to ask what that is you do not need it. Most people would use the POP3 email unless there office tells them to use a blackberry.

The agreements with VZW and the Windows devices is different. Its like comparing apples to oranges.
