Not much new. You can catch wild Mr. Mime in Diamond, and Purugly in Pearl.
This is also one of the few places you can catch a Chatot (Mostly a gimmick
Pokemon), so get one for the Pokedex.

Bunch of trainers on the route, although they are mostly fisherman. There
is a couple of houses on the beach to explore as well. One has the Pikachu
fan club, which has a single Pikachu Trainer inside. The house next to it
is a fishing competition for Remoraid: catch a big one and you will get a
net ball (Not worth the effort). Once you are done, head to the right to
find the gatehouse for Sunnyshore.
