Sony-Ericsson S710a: The twist top makes it ineligible for me.

I went to three carrier stores today, including two Cingular stores, a Sprint store, and a Verizon store. I saw and handled the Sony Ericsson S710a and have to report that the twist top was more than I want to deal with when using a phone. If it were a flip phone I would consider it, but going thru the motions and seeing for myself, I am discontinuing any research on it and opening up the field again.

At the second Cingular Store that I went to, I handled the S710 again and noticed that the top was wobbling and loose from usage.

Too bad. I was in love with this phone.

I hope your not basing your completely impression from a beat up dummy model at a store.

Don't base your opinion on the store model. You will get a better responce out of the people who use it. Heck, I don't even open mine up 75% of the time. I use a BT headset, and have voice promts recorded for most of the numbers stored, so when someone on the list calls, I hear their name so I don't even have to take it out of the case.
About the only time I open mine is to send a text message. The big draw for me is the camera, and HUGE display, which I have protected with a PDA screen protector cut to size.
