rl 4920 switching from sprint to automatic

☹️
The Sanyo RL 4920 automatically switches modes from Sprint to Automatic. I am not saying it switches from Sprint to roaming while set on Automatic. I am saying that it switches from Sprint Only Mode to Automatic Mode. I had a unit for about a month and it kept doing it. Finally they let me swap out units saying my unit was likely defective so I got a new unit of the same model and it did the EXACT SAME THING.

I am having a hard time communicating with both Sprint and Sanyo about it. It seems they don't want to hear about it.

Please be aware of this problem and also please WATCH FOR IT. If anyone else has this problem please keep us posted and PLEASE REPORT IT -- to your local store, to Sanyo, to Sprint, etc.

I work out of Bloomington Indiana and I sell a couple 4920's a day and I have never heard of this happening before. I appreciate the advice and I will let the other stores in my are know about the possibility.

Thanks

It might be that most users are not that technical and are not checking it carefully. I would love it if a vendor (or even Sprint themselves at their technical headquarters) would take a 4920 and check on it. So far I have not been able to get anyone to commite to testing this problem. Since it has happened to me on two phones I have to feel it's a systemic problem but I can't bet anyone to commit to check it. It's very frustrating

I feel your pain as I have the same phone and same problem, sprint does not want to hear about it or deal with it, I would guess they dont want to have to come up with a software patch and a recall on the phones to install it. Bad P.R. and costly. So guess whos getting stuck.

Hello, I have noticed that my 4920 phone does this also. I was driving yesterday and noticed it went from Sprint only to automatic. This is getting me mad as I keep setting it to Sprint only. In the past year I have been able to try many phones and this is the only phone I have EVER experienced it with and was wondering if anyone else had this problem then I came across this site and found I am NOT alone. It is NOT "just the phone being defective" as one reply said. I have had other 4920 users tell me this has happened to them. Can't anyone out there like Sanyo or Sprint test these phones and give us a straight answer. This phone is AWESOME, I love it but this little flaw is getting frustrating!

Yes I bought this phone about three weeks ago, it does the same thing switches for sprint to automatic by its self, always ends up happening sooner or later after a reboot. They had their store model of the same phone RL4920 there so I tryed it after rebooting that phone a couple of times it did it too. Store worker saw no point in exchanging the phone then to correct the problem. Sprint will give you double talk but does not want to acknowledge the issue, cause then they will have to do something about it. They are unbeliveable how they blow people off and try to jerk you around. I reported them to the BBB. Good luck sprint just wants to stick the customer with the problem.
