😲 Why is it that the people at Sprint told me that this 5600 phone that cost me about $549.00 on April 1st, is being discontinued? I am so disappointed!!! I plan on selling my phone for about $200.00 (or a little less) Does anybody know why this phone is being discontinued already? It just came out around the end of March, I bought it on April 1st. What phone is supposed to replace it, or will it be replaced by another model?

Don't worry there is a phone coming out to replace it. It's the Sanyo 9000 and it pretty much has the same features plus EVDO. The look it the same too. However why do people get so upset when a phone gets discountiued? I don't see people getting all upset when a new model car comes along every year. Phones are the same why. However their models change anywhere from every 6 months to a year. Technology changes and so do the phones. Calm down!!

I am more suprised than upset about my phone being discontinued. The phone came out this past March, I bought it April 1st, and now it's discontinued already. I still see phones in the Sprint stores have been out for at least a year and longer. The phone is a phone that has gotten alot of interest. So the only difference is that the new phone has EDVO? I am looking to but a different phone, like the Treo' 650.

Unless you NEED the Treo for business purposes and need continuous access to your email and calendar info I would suggest you sticking with your 5600. It is still one of the best phones around even if it is being phased out to accommodate the 9000 that will soon be released. However if you are set on getting a Treo I recommend you going to the Palmone site and viewing their customer forums ahead of time to know what you are getting yourself into.

Well one of my concerns is if I should have a problem with my phone while it's uder my 1 year warranty, and the phone is beyond repair....just how will things be handled?

As far as the Treo 650 is concerned, I'm a travel agent and even still, i think it would be a nice feature to have access like that on the go. What is the website address again?

Hey thanks for the link. from what I'm understanding from reading the the info, the Sanyo MVP phone will be for a new carrier and not Sprint. From the pictures, it looks very much like the Sanyo MM-5600. If you or anyone else get any new info, feel free to share it.

I do not know much, other than it is basically identical to a 5600 but in the same style as the 8300 that it has changeable plates to make the phone look two tone (according to other websites) and evdo.

if it's a 9000 or a remade 5600 I see that people say it has speakerphone. Does that mean it lacks ready-link? If so BOOO.

Your manufacturers warranty is fine. Just because the phone is being phased out doesn't mean it has vanished from wireless existence. However, if it is damaged and not a manufacturers defect lets hope you put insurance on you expensive device.

The Treo website is www.palmone.com Check it out and let me know what you think.

It came out last year. I don't remember the exact month but its projected obsolescence is around fourth quarter.
