Sanyo to Verizon-Help Please

I have had a cell phone for quite a long time. I have had Sprint and Verizon and like them both. I have also worked for both but it has been a while ago. I currently have Verizon because of there coverage. However like most others out there apparently I am not a huge fan of Verizon’s phones. I am not one of these people that are interested in a camera phone but instead want the best call quality possible as well as reception. What I very much want to do and do not really care how much money it takes to get it done is get the Sanyo SCP-5400/RL 2500 and or the SCP-5500 / VM4500 working on Verizons network. I do not need the two way feature and I don’t need the get it now stuff. All I want is my text messaging and voice mail and phone. ...

Those particular Sanyo models are unique to the carrier, meaning they are only compatible on Sprint's network. Phones are locked into each carrier to prevent people from doing exactly that, using their phone on another carrier's network. You can try contacting a Verizon store and asking them to flash the phone for Verizon, but it will probably be in vain. Good luck.

Thank You. I will give them a call and see if they can flash it. Do you know if the issue would be they could flash it (meaning it is possible) or is it they just cant (it is not physicly possible) flash it? I found a company that can unlock the phone for sprints network but I would still need the flash I assume to get it to work on Verizons network.
Thanks,
Glenn

I don't think it's possible to do that. Each and every single ESN on every phone ever made for each company is in that company's specific database and without the phone being in their database of any other carrier, you can't get on their network. Even IF, and that's a huge IF, you could somehow do that, it wouldn't have your phone's ESN in the other company's database.

what??? um no... a PCS Sanyo phone WILL work on Verizons service. The catch is you need to know how to unlock the phone so that you can program it.

Data cable to get MSL code. Once you have the MSL just go in and plug in the Verizon info.

Hi I'm completely new to this forum and I also have the same request as the others. Could you possibly list all the steps in doing this? for example what program do you use with the data cable? also does the web work on verizon networks? What information would you be entering from verizon? What would tell verizon when doing this? just that you are using a vm4500 or just ask for certain codes to do the phone. Also is there anything on the phone that wouldnt work that normally does work on sprint network? Thanks for your time.

Newbie here--

What are the chances that the vm4500 could be reprogrammed for Verizon in a similar fashion?

Great discussion everyone, thanks!!
