AUDIOVOX SMT5600 HELP HELP HELP

my audiovox smt5600 is now useless because my charger broke, i try to connect it to my PC using a usb cord because you can charge it like that too but my PC wont recogize my phone and the charger light doesnt flash on my phone, any suggestions or help? PLEASE

maybe it will only work with a audiovox usb cord? do i need a software?

I believe you need ActiveSync installed.
