I have this phone and have found that the speaker phone works great, even when I am not getting a strong signal on the phone. It works better and is clearer if you turn the phone around and talk into it when not facing the keypad. The other person on the other end has reported clear reception and voice. As far as dropped calls, I have not had a single one, so far. It gets much better reception in my area, than any other phone that I have had. I live in an area which is wooded and difficult to get reception in. I got this phone for the trimode capability, and am very pleased with it. The camera is adequate, but don't expect top quality photos. Hope that this helps

I own the 8900 and i think it is a very good phone. Pros: speaker phone works great. Of course it is not as loud as nextel's, but good enough. It can store more pix than the lg VX6000. Fifty compared to 20 (LG). because of this you can store more caller id pix. You can also take pix with the phone closed, and even with the belt clip on. I've dropped my phone about 7-10 times and it has very few nips and scratches. Drawbacks: the battery tends to get heated after about 10 -15 minutes of actual use (talking), but not enough to burn you...i've had conversations for 1-2hrs. Also it has a great battery life, but if that isn't enough a bigger/extended battery is available. The camera isn't as great as the LG's but in broad daylight it is awesome. ...
