Got phone yesterday. My first clam shell. Am using with Verizon. Am impressed with it but found 1 bug and a little nit (little bug).
All in all I think it is a good phone, voice recognition is pretty good-better than my Kyocera 3035e. Screen is fairly good but in bright sunlight could be a little tough to read. A lot of ring tones but of course I will try to download some other ones.

This phone as you may know can dial by your saying the digits of a phone number
or by saying a name. It is fairly accurate on the names and if it does not find the right match it will announce a few others (up to 4) that you can approve (say "Yes") for dialing.

I wish there was a DIAL Command so I could simply say "DIAL JOE HOME". However this is not the...

I just got the phone as well but hopefully I can answer some of your questions:

Question 1: You're pretty much right about the driving mode. As far as I've been able to ascertain, all it does is automatically revert to the voice command mode when someone calls or when you open the flip.

Question 2: The only time I could talk on the phone with the flip closed is when I have my hands free earpiece connected. However, you still have to open the flip to place a call or receive an incoming call. After the call is initiated, you can close the flip (again, hands-free only). When I place the phone on speaker and close the flip, it hangs up the call.

As far as the volume control, if you want to change the volume during a call, press OK...

Thanks so much. Good info.

Now do you know how to make the number "1" appear when typing the name of a contact?

Are you going to download any ringtones, get a cable, etc? I would like to change the picture/wallpaper and wonder what I need.

Thanks so much
Peter

Yup, pressing OK after you change the volume with the side keys did indeed work. Never saw it in manual at least where I looked in the manual.

Next question is if there is a way to change the tones when the phone is powered on and off? I only note you can turn tones on and off for this but not select them.

Soon I will be adventurous and try to store a picture in the phone after I get a data cable unless you know of a way to send a picture to the phone and use that as wallpaper perhaps with some downloaded app.

Thanks
Peter

For all those little 'nits & noids'. Here's the scoop on the LGXV4500 use when flip is closed and using a boomed mic headset. Been there done that.

Preselect 'driving mode' prior to plugging in headset boom mic, if you're driving (lower single side key) of course. The outside phone's window should say, 'driving mode activated'. Press and hold again de-activates it.

1) Yes, yes and yes... You can make calls.
Ending them is another thing (i.e. reopen flip and hit red "end" key).

2) With the headset plugged in firmly, press the lowest single stand alone side button.

3) You'll hear, "please say a command".

4) You chose (speak) the menu item with your voice (i.e. "contacts", etc...)

5) Again, you speak the stored p...

to enter a 1 into your names - change the input method(right soft key) from Abc or T9Word to 123...you're entering ones like crazy!
