My VX8100 V7 MP3 Experience: hope this helps !
About a week ago I stepped into a VX 8100 V7 - my old phone was a 8000, which I had loaded with MP3s (cumbersome) and custom ringtones via BITPIM.
In brief, re, 8100, after MP3 activation via menu # 00000 workaround:
1) Phone software via Windows Media Player (WMP)did not allow me to dump MP3s via drag and drop onto my Sandisk 512 MB card WITH the phone hooked up via USB- they definately have this rigged so this so it is difficult - every time it showed a successful sync after drag and drop, the memory card was automatically erased.

I am unable to get my PC to recognize my phone. My PC seems unable to find the correct driver for the interface. I assumed the proper driver would be on the CD that came with the USB cable. Thanks,
Drew

Card readers that will read a variety of card types are fairly cheap and easy to use.

I had the same problem until I upgraded to Windows Media Player 10, once I installed that AND opened it up, then windows immediately recognized and connected my LGVX8100 right up... and now it sync's with no problems... but a side note WMP will convert any CD or MP3 to a WMA before loading it onto the phone... works fine just no EQ...

I have the same problem and I did upgrade to WMP 10 (btw, what the heck is Urge?) and I still can't get the computer to recognize my phone.
I have the VX8300 but the drivers/software are supposed to be the same.
Any ideas?

the newer Music Essentials kit that say 8100 and 9800 can be used with the 8300. I think the drivers/software is actually more similar to the 9800 than the 8100.
