The superior 2nd display with the OUTSIDE MP3 CONTROLS and the built-in 512MB RAM for MP3 storage is key for me.

Of course, both offer Bluetooth 1.2 technology that will enable them both to work like a high-speed modem for your notebook on the road, and for $15/month with VZW. Compare that with Cingular/ATT's $79/unlimited data connection that doesn't support notebook interfacing and you've got a good deal with VZW's VCast EV-DO offering.

The Samsung SCH-A890 cannot compete with the VX8100 and E815 as it has no Bluetooth, speakerphone, MP3 player, expansion memory slots, or USB support.

The Audiovox CDM-8940 doesn't have BT either but does have USB, MP3, and mini-SD expansion.

I used the phonescoop comparison chart using the following link to compare the VX8100 and the E815:

My question is with regard to "DATA-CAPABLE":

"Data-Capable: This means that the phone can be used like a modem to connect a separate computer to the Internet or other system.
With the proper equipment and network support, some phones also allow faxes to be sent and received."

VX8100 is not checked, E815 is checked. Does this mean the Motorola E815 can act as a modem but the LG VX8100 cannot act as a modem?

I thought that Bluetooth would enable both of them to act as a modem for notebook computers with bluetooth or USB.

I received $25 from Verizon in a class action lawsuit that stated the "710" would work via any Bluetooth platform. It does not. But-it does work as a modem on my laptop. It seems that the E815 inherited some of the bad legal issues that the 710 also had. the Moto E815 may have a bluetooth block issue with other platforms. If you find out how to make the E815 work with your laptop as a modem-please let me know how to do it also!
