Unlocking an LG CU400 phone? I have the code but....

Ruinthere

Has anybody successfully unlock a LG CU400 with the unlock code provided by ATT.

The instructions given by ATT do not match with the phone and LG is offering no help at all.

From ATT:
"Power off device and remove AT&T SIM card.

Insert SIM card from another wireless carrier.

Power on handset - phone will display "Invalid SmartChip".

In Idle screen, enter 159753#*# - this does not display on the screen.

Enter 8-digit Unlock code.

Select "OK" - the handset is successfully unlocked."

After I entered 159753#*#, it took me to a different menu with more sub menu.

Any help appreciated

TIA

What SIM card did you use? It has to be something like an AT&T Wireless or a T-Mobile. The Cingular and new AT%T SIM cards are the same identity and will not give the error message when inserted. Did you get an error message when you turned on the phone?
