Samsung

Had a Samsung a530 on Verizon service for less than 6 months. One day, open the hinged lid and it comes off in my hand, screen goes blank, a small piece of plastic hangs on one side of the hinge.

Figure one year warranty, no problem... What a joke. Under "What is not covered" I see "(c) any plastic surfaces or other externally exposed parts that are scratched or damaged due to normal use".

I figure this is for extreme cases and a reasonable customer service agent would want to keep an otherwise satisfied customer. Well Bubba and Buck (his supervisor) didn't see it that way. In fact Buck implied, in no uncertain terms, that I lied to him by saying "...let me tell you the facts, the hinge was damaged by miss-use..." Jason, (Supervisor of Return Dept.) was a little more polite and gave me the address to the legal department to pursue this issue further.

Now I ask, what kind of company designs a hinge that will not function for the life of the product? And then, refuses to warrant it as an "external plastic part"?

As far as I am concerned these folks have a better chance of seeing Buddha than seeing me as a customer of Samsung again!
