Samsung Flight A797 Messaging Problem

by abowser    Jan 5, 2010, 9:50 PM

Has anyone experienced this....
I receive 3-4 texts a week from #32623 ~ have been for years ~ never a problem with my old LG Shine or Razrs. It's just the hockey score, nothing fancy - no pics, videos, web links, dancing reindeer...nothing - just the score of the game.

I got a new Samsung Flight and have had major texting issues. The incoming texts work for a while, but then suddenly stop completely. (Outgoing texts still work fine during this time) Customer Service & Technical support have gone on a wild fishing expedition trying to figure out the problem. I have spent countless hours on the phone with them. In 7 days I have had 3 new Flights, 2 new SIM cards, done many master resets, powered on/off/on/off/on again, verified provisioning, message centers, routing numbers, IMEI, etc.

Whenever I receive a text from the above # 32623 - I don't get that text, and all texts after that. It gums up the works. I can take my SIM card out, place it in another AT&T phone (not samsung), receive the missing 32623 text (plus all others that have come in since then).....this essentially "clears the pipes" and my texts begin working again - I can put my card back in my phone. All is well until the next text from 32623 - and it all starts again. Technical Support thinks I'm crazy and it's completely irrelevant that it only happens when I get texts from this one number. To me it's clearly a compatibility issue between the network and the phone/manufacturer.

AT&T has referred me over to Samsung stating it is a manufacturer device issue & they need to send out a software update.
Samsung technical support opened a ticket for me. Today, I was told by A SAMSUNG EMPLOYEE @ customer service- that I should take advantage of the 30 day return window and CHOOSE A DIFFERENT BRAND of phone. I was floored that this was their solution It's a shame, I was really starting to like the Flight. However, that is not acceptable customer service & it's not OK for my texts to freeze like that. Guess I will have to take their advice.

I am now sharing this everywhere I can to hopefully help others with this problem.
