samsung a660 time stamp issue

Question regarding the a660 via sprint. I've had several customers return their phone due to the time not updating on the display when the phone is flipped open. Example: customer opens the phone at 10:30 am, then again at 1:30pm, but the display still reads 10:30. Is this a phone issue, an individual defect, or a setting for the phone?
I'm pretty sure it's not an individual defect, because I've had several returns for this very reason. if it's a series problem, is anyone aware of a patch and where do you get it?
I don't have a large variety of sprint phones, and they're very expensive compared to the other carriers i sell, so losing the one free phone i have to offer is no bueno. Any thoughts?
