BlackBerry vs. Android

Can someone point me in the direction (and or provide info directly) of where I can get a good quick comparison of the Android OS vs. BlackBerry?

I was all set to go for the BB 9900 (TMobile is my carrier) but was told to rethink that choice and I have to admit the initial sticker price on the device has made me pause. My main interest is the access to email on the go and good sound quality. I am tech savvy but do not desire a steep learning curve. I just learned about the Samsung Galaxy S II coming out for TMobile tomorrow and am now researching that device but am open to other suggestions. I was using the Blackberry the switched to an Android. While the BBY was/is superior (imo) for email, I find I use my phone for much more than just work/business these days.

Android platform allows more consumer friendly applications...

Android does still have some email usefulness, just get the app and you can manage your email with it.

Hi,

Do you have a specific email app that you recommend? I am concerned the learning curve on an Android device would be large and I am looking to cut that any way I can.

Thanks. Do you have a specific Android device you like and/or specific apps?

Also, given that you were a previous BB user, did you find there to be a large learning curve with the switch to Android?

No big learning curve...I just missed the BBM feature of Blackberry...

I would suggest something with a faster processor...I use a Samsung Fascinate...but did use the HTC Desire.

I like the HTC products, but the Samsung has a prettier screen.

Can you (or anyone else reading this please feel free to jump in) define what you mean by faster in terms of the processor?

Sorry for all the questions. I thought I was all set to go with the new BB Bold until Sunday and now this RIM outage on top of it all is really making me rethink my choice.

I would whole-heartedly recommend it, especially since you have T-Mobile. It has a 1.5 GHz processor compared to the AT&T version which has 1.2 GHz. I have the AT&T version and love it, it's super fast. Never used BlackBerry though, my first cell was the iPhone 3GS and this is my second.

Thanks! I am headed to the store this afternoon. Given the recent RIM outage I think I am leaning towards taking the leap with this device vs. my original plan to get the new BB Bold 9900 as I just cannot deal with what seems to be an ongoing issue for RIM.

Note, my one concern is the mention of no WiFi calling on this phone. I have seen conflicting reports. Can anyone confirm whether or not this ph ...

Generally, that's a carrier thing. AT&T doesn't support it, but in my experience it's supported on most T-Mobile phones, so you should be fine.
