I always update my google calendar with their website (when you create a reminder, you can set it as re-occurring) then it just syncs with my Android device as long as I am logged into that gmail account, and have it syncing.
To double check it is syncing the calendar depends on the phone a bit, but in general, settings, accounts and sync, then click on the account and make sure the correct syncing options are checked.
