Android-er to be.

I currently own a Blackberry 9700 which I loathe, for a lack of better terms, and I am looking to go Android, on T-Mobile.

The two phones I have in mind are the LG G2x and the upcoming HTC Sensation. I know that the LG G2x runs a stock version of Android and the HTC has the 'Sense'.

Aside from looks, what does HTC's custom user interface offer up that the stock Android does not? Is it a big deal, or mostly vanity?

And lastly, does the phone being version 2.2 or 2.3 really make a world of difference?

I'm really looking for some helpful insight, so if all you plan on saying is "HTC sucks!" or "LG sucks" or "Android sucks" or "Get an iPhone" or something empty-headed of that sort, please don't.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sense UI is nothing but vanity. There is no discernable difference between 2.2 and 2.3.

Go with what feels right.

I have the G2x and it is a great phone. We were just notified that in 2 weeks they will be sending out a OS update to move it to honeycomb which should be a fantastic system. I can honestly say that the G2x is by far the fastest phone i have had with the dual processors. I am on Tmobile and my business partner is on ATT with iphone 4 and the G2x stomps it in performance

The G2X is not getting honeycomb. No phone is getting honeycomb.

Maybe you are thinking of Gingerbread, since it is supposed to get updated to that in the coming week(s) to month.

Thanks a lot everybody! Last week I settled on the HTC Sensation and I absolutely love it. It's a bombshell of a phone, and hell, compared to the 1+ years of Android, it's even more exciting. I appreciate all of the input, even the input that was grossly misinformed and inaccurate. Although I side with fullracecam, e sure you know what you're talking about before you talk about it, especially when trying to help. Thank you all!!!

I received the Over-The-Air Gingerbread update Tuesday morning. I seem to be one of the first ones however. (Android 2.3.3, Kernal 2.6.32.9).

I haven't noticed any real differences, except it hasn't "locked up" or re-booted itself....yet. Keeping fingers crossed :-) 😁

If you are even considering a different UI, go with an htc with an unlocked bootloader. Rooting it makes a world of difference in performance when you eliminate alot of the bloatware that runs in your background. That is part of the advantage of custom roms.
